My name is Shannon Bentley and I graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. I have an extensive amount of experience working with youth between the ages 6 months to 18 years. I was a swim teacher, English and French tutor and I even worked with children with the autism spectrum back in late 2012 and 2013. In May 2012, I studied abroad in Rabat, Morocco where I was a part of an Islamic Immersion program. There, I stayed with a host family of the Islamic culture, learned basic Darisha and spoke French to communicate with the locals. Since the trip, my view on the Islamic culture has changed and my world view has been framed to think more openly than others. I worked at the Blood center of Wisconsin as a student worker in the Therapeutics Services Department. I worked with data entries and handled patient information and sent out prescription orders for patient phlebotomy renewals. I also kept patients information in their files accordingly and made phone calls whenever necessary. I completed my student teaching at Alexander Hamilton High school in a 9th grade English classroom. I accepted full responsibility for the classroom which included lesson planning, instruction, and assigning necessary assessments.I am interested in extending my teaching skills to a new environment. I am interested in moving to either the East coast regions or the south in order to build on my skills as an English teacher. I have the plans to also attend grad school to earn my masters.Thank you! :)
