My role as a consultant and interim CTO gives me an opportunity to work across a wide range of industries and technologies. I led development teams, manage technology transitions, design products and business strategies, evaluate technologies and service providers, and help define business and technology goals. I work for companies ranging in size from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 or equivalent sized private firms. I balance business needs with technical and business constraints. As necessary I select vendors, hire teams, build sales and fundraising plans. In 2000 I started my former software and consulting firm, JigZaw Inc, in Chicago and raised a $1M round of Angel funding. In 2005 we moved from Chicago to the Bay Area. After working on a few early stage startups, in 2014 I joined Coupons.com (later renamed Quotient Technologies) as a senior project manager. After Quotient, I explored a few startup concepts and resumed my consulting practice. In 2005 I co-organized and founded MeshForum, an early conference on the study of networks. We held a second MeshForum in 2006 in San Francisco and followed that conference with a series of one day MeshWalk events in 2007-2009. These events brought together an interdisciplinary group of experts on networks from academia, industry and the government. We were an early conference to make podcasts of our sessions available freely online. An active networker and event organizer, I have run monthly networking events and conferences and facilitated and organized many Open Space events including BarCamps and Hackathons. In recent years, I have served as a Track Chair of the Entrepreneurship Track for TiECon.As a writer I have contributed to many technology industry sites over the years as well as had an active presence online for decades.

Head Of ProductsShannon Clark Consulting Aug 2019 - PresentSince August of 2019 I have served as a business and technology consultant primarily for early stage startups, in many cases serving as a contract CTO and COO. These roles have been varied based on the needs and stage of each company. I craft the technology plan, implement it, manage and source teams building the products, and provide business strategy and modeling. As necessary I help with fundraising and early business development and initial sales. While many of the my past clients have been early stage companies often lacking a technical co-founder, I will work with companies at any stage and am open to full-time opportunities at any size of company. I am technology and platform agnostic focused on matching technical solutions to the team, company, budget, and stage of the company. Past projects have included global development teams, multi-cloud deployments, agile and scrum management and development from idea to production deployment.

While we believe that we identified massive opportunities to build mission-driven banks serving retail businesses the regulatory challenges in 2018 to start or acquire a bank led us to shelve our plans to start or acquire a new bank. We worked on building tools to serve retail businesses. In 2019 as my other consulting roles grew we shelved Hatubank for now.
