There is a comfort in the weight and familiarity of a camera in my hands. Its technology doesn’t scare me, but challenges me to think differently about how I see life. Photography is an art that is very subjective–what is beautiful to some is outlandish to others. What I try to capture is the spirit and essence of who you are by learning about you before the shoot, understanding why you want photos taken and taking photos in a setting that is comfortable and relaxing. In the end, what makes a great photo is my ability to discern who you are and what you want so that when you see the final result, you can say, “Yep, you caught it just right.”

Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, I set financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization's overall strategy. I lead all financial administration, business planning and budgeting. As a member of the senior team, I work closely with the Finance, Audit and Investment Committees of the Board of Trustees.Under the direction of the Investment Committee and working with the investment consultant and money managers, I am responsible for cash management and all investments. In addition, I represent the Foundation in relationships with the auditors, the investment managers, legal counsel, and the risk managers. In addition, I frequently represent the Foundation in discussions and relationships with donors and their representatives.I lead the finance, risk management, human resources, and information technology staff and manage all Foundation finance and administration functions, including the investment of all Foundation funds. I also oversee a team of eight including the following direct reports: Controller, Director of Accounting, and Director of Grants Management and oversee outside IT consultants.Partner with the CEO and the senior executive team on all operational and strategicissues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the CEO based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation and revenue/expense analysis.

Capital Impact Partners is a community development financial institution providing capital and technical assistance for charter schools, community health centers, affordable housing and affordable assisted living.During my tenure, Capital Impact Partners grew its balance sheet from $65 million to $227 million. This period of tremendous growth allowed me to grow my skills, knowledge and expertise in the areas of cash flow and cash management, asset/liability management, covenant and compliance reporting and grants management.In addition, I managed and oversaw the creation of reporting infrastructure for the newly created New Markets Tax Credit program including internal financial statements, investor reporting and annual audits and tax returns. This program totaled more than $700 million in managed assets housed in 45 limited liability companies (LLC). Grants management included reporting for both foundation funds (Robert Wood Johnson, Ford, Surdna, Gates, Irvine) and federal grants (Department of Education, HUD, Social Innovation Fund). Additionally, I completed the Federal indirect cost rate proposal for the organization to establish an overhead rate for reimbursement.I also chaired the Diversity Committee, leveraging story telling to understand and appreciate both our differences and shared experiences. Became an integral part of sustaining a culture that honored each employee for their unique set of skills, experiences and perspectives. Published a Blurb book called "What's Your Story: Getting Down to the Heart of the Matter", a collection of photos and stories from staff that gave insight to an important artifact from their lives.Finally, I collaborated with the Director of Communications to develop organizational storytelling for our constituents - what does Capital Impact Partners do and how does it create impact in the markets they serve? Developed online annual reports and messaging, Impact News Network and other online communications tools.
