Shannon is the Executive Director of Continuing & Professional Education for the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver. She is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships between SEHD and educational organizations across Colorado and beyond. In her role, Shannon strives to create innovative ways for educators to pursue ongoing learning and professional development opportunities that are aligned to district context and needs in the workforce. Through these partnerships, educators are able to complete graduate level coursework, pursue advanced degrees and receive career specific professional development. Her portfolio of work generates over 5 million dollars annually and includes the oversight, management and implementation of the following programs: - The Executive Coaching for Equity Program- ASPIRE to Teach, the largest alternative licensure teacher preparation program in Colorado- The Buell Early Childhood Leadership ProgramShannon’s educational leadership experience continues to be leveraged as an affiliated faculty member of the Leadership for Educational Organizations program where she teaches in the principal licensure program helping develop leaders who are innovative, community focused and maintain an ethical commitment to providing rigorous and equitable learning experiences. She is an advisor to the National P-3 Center, contributing to the development and implementation of the P-3 Leadership Certificate and the P-3 Institute offered nationally.Prior to her time at the University of Colorado Denver, Shannon spent 17 years in Denver Public Schools where she served as the Executive Director of Talent Preparation Pathways, the Instructional Superintendent of Innovation Schools, and principal of the Montclair School of Academics & Enrichment. She became the principal of Montclair after participating in the first cohort of the Ritchie Program for School Leaders , working collaboratively with the community to design and implement a robust turnaround initiative. Shannon’s entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively and strategically allow her to find innovative solutions to complex challenges. She is a devoted and courageous leader whose warmth and wit allow her to create and support strong teams by building trusted relationships as she strives to provide exceptional learning experiences for all students.
