My UX career started out with a bang: the pride of completing my Human Factors PhD, the excitement of a job with a fast-paced Silcon Valley startup (GO), and the accomplishment of building a successful usability team for a successful Apple subsidiary (Claris).Although only 3 years into my post-graduate career, the amazing experiences I had as a UX intern, practitioner, and manager across 5 stellar companies (IBM, Lockheed Martin, Compaq, Go, and Claris/Apple) gave me the skills and determination to make a name for myself as a UX consultant. My tenacity and drive to make my clients’ products usable, effective and enjoyable for users through UX practices, was the foundation for a successful consultancy. Now, over 50 clients and 1,000 research sessions later, Sage Research & Design is thriving. Our team has had the delight of helping small and scrappy companies like AlienVault and Tendril Networks bring User Experience practices to their development process and the privilege of acting as an extension of established UX teams for power-house companies like Facebook (Oculus), Indeed, Dell, eBay, and Netflix.Then, two baby squirrels affected a pivot.My passion for bringing UX to healthcare was unexpectedly unearthed when I rescued 2 baby squirrels who had fallen out of their nest. That single act lead to 100s of volunteer hours for animal rescue organizations across 2 states, a degree in veterinary technology, and now, a specialty in Medical Product Human Factors and Healthcare User Experience Consulting. We’re proud to have helped clients like Hach, Ascom, and ResApp navigate the FDA Human Factors Submission process. There’s nothing more satisfying than mitigating a safety issue, reducing the cognitive load through product design for an over-stressed clinician, or improving patient experiences. No matter what your vertical, company size, or user experience goal, I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Acted as the chief HyperCard programmer of the experimental program for this study. Results of this study were to lead to interface guidelines for the Space Station Freedom's Health Maintenance Facility. - Helped initiate a study to find how complex system operators' knowledge changes with expertise. The results of this study may lead to suggestions for improving the interface display used by NASA flight controllers responsible for the shuttle's robotic arm.
