Every day, Shannon melds her passion for fitness, health and child welfare with her expertise in media and communications. By day, the former newspaper reporter and governor’s press secretary serves as a managing director at Moore, where she oversees one of the top-ranked communications firm’s largest accounts - Florida Prepaid - and multiple others in industries ranging from economic development to higher education. She also founded and coordinates the in-house corporate wellness program, Thrive Moore; and leads Moore Impact the firm's community giving program.A Florida native, Shannon worked in newspapers for nine years covering government, crime, education, higher education and state politics. After covering politics in the Tallahassee Capitol Bureau for the Tampa Bay Times, the state’s largest newspaper, Shannon took a job as speechwriter and deputy press secretary for then-Gov. Charlie Crist. Since March 2010, she has worked at Moore. In the early mornings, evenings and weekends, Shannon attends and leads group fitness classes and coaches nutrition clients. Shannon has served as a master trainer and national fitness conference presenter and does freelance writing and serves as an expert source for magazines including Runner's World, Women’s Running, Tallahassee Woman and Tallahassee Magazine. She founded a girl's summer camp focused on empowering girls through fitness and nutrition.Shannon graduated with highest honors from the University of Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in early childhood education. She is heavily involved in animal rescue through the local animal shelter. She and her husband have two adopted sons and six adopted rescue pups and own and operate Ground Ops Roastery + Bakehouse.Specialties: Crisis communications, media relations, writing, strategic planning and event planning.
