The International Student Training Network (ISTN) is a program of the International Partnership for Queer Youth Resilience (INQYR), a research partnership between universities and community organizations across Canada, the US, the UK, Mexico, and Australia. A competitive two-year training programme, the ISTN trains the next generation of scholars to conduct interdisciplinary social science research with Sexual and Gender Diverse Youth (SGDY), with a particular focus on strengthening resilience through utilization of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in a global context.Trainees will develop skills in five core areas: Research with SGDY, ICT research methodologies, Mixed method data management and analyses, Interdisciplinary research, Knowledge mobilizationTrainees will also gain valuable research experience and grow their research network internationally. Trainees will work directly in the Regional Networks, support research conducted by the INQYR team, and garner the opportunity to co-present and publish research findings (International Partnership for Queer Youth Resilience, 2024)

Leading roles:• Beyond Binary: Rethinking Gender in Psychological Science: co-first author of a content analysis addressing exclusionary research practices in social psychology and the complexities around constructing inclusive and culturally informed social psychology research systems with gender-diverse communities using quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods (SPSS, NVivo). The project is ongoing with the intention of submitting for academic publication.Supporting Roles:• Couples Intimacy Study: investigating psychophysiological mechanisms associated with sexual victimization and relationship well-being. collecting and scoring physiological data ( electrocardiogram (ECG), impedance cardiography (ICG), and electrodermal activity (EDA)) using various technologies, such as PsyToolKit, Biopac MP160, Mindware HRV + IMP, and AcqKnowledge software.• Iconicity Study (collaboration with CLaSSI Lab): preliminary study design developmentThese roles demonstrate my versatility, dedication, and ability to make substantial contributions to diverse areas of psychology research within a lab environment.

In my role at the paint-your-own pottery studio, I am tasked with delivering ceramic painting instructions and guidance to customers across various age groups and skill levels. Additionally, I assist with hosting special events, such as parties, community gatherings, and children's art camps.During peak seasons, including holidays, March and Summer breaks, I efficiently manage both the "front of house" responsibilities (addressing customer inquiries in the studio, over the phone, and through email) and the "back of house" duties (operating electric kilns, tracking inventory, managing point-of-sale systems, and maintaining databases).I have also acted as Worker Health and Safety representative since 2019 which include routine inspections, filing reports and consulting with employees and managerial staff to solve health and safety related matters.Additionally, I actively contribute to the maintenance of social media platforms for two studio locations. Since the change in business ownership in June 2019, our collaborative efforts in content creation and platform management have led to a notable increase in account engagement.Through my multifaceted role, I have successfully enhanced the overall customer experience by providing comprehensive services, managing studio operations efficiently, and significantly boosting social media engagement.

As a Committee Member with Ottawa Valley Roller Derby for the past 9 years, I have played a pivotal role in shaping the league's operations and policies, contributing extensively to various committees and initiatives.Within the Advisory Board, I collaborated with fellow league members and committees to make executive decisions and influence operational policies, including the development of the Code of Conduct and Bylaws. This involved engaging in strategic discussions to ensure the league's governance adhered to the highest standards.In the capacity of managing Logistics for roller derby events, I assisted with venue booking, contract formation, licensing acquisition, and equipment setup. Additionally, I assumed the role of assistant volunteer coordinator, leading a team of approximately 20 volunteers by providing guidance and overseeing training procedures for both on and off-track positions.As a member of the Fundraising and Sponsorship committee, I successfully contributed to organizing revenue-generating events, aligning closely with event planning for bouts. In the realm of training and coaching, I served as a coach for Roller Derby 101 and Junior programs, as well as a trainer for all-league practices. As part of the Stream in Mental Health and Well-Being, I underwent a placement in partial fulfillment of the PSYC 4330 (Community Mental Health) course. This experiential learning opportunity provided me with a platform to contribute to health promotion initiatives.During the placement, I actively participated in biweekly meetings, contributing insights and staying engaged with the ongoing developments in mental health initiatives. Additionally, I assumed the role of the designated notetaker for select sessions related to the Student Mental Health Framework 3.0 consultation, ensuring accurate documentation and aiding in the collaborative decision-making process.One of my significant contributions involved co-facilitating a workshop titled "From Surviving to Thriving." During my participation in the 2016 and 2021 Censuses of Population, I played a pivotal role in maintaining meticulous records of respondent interviews, prioritizing data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality. My responsibilities included using internal government software for data entry, and contacting respondents by phone and in-person to obtain completed questionnaires.Working within a team primarily responsible for the Kitchissippi Ward, I ensured the success of our efforts by achieving one of the highest response rates in Ottawa. Subsequently, our team extended support to other areas, contributing to the overall success of the census initiative.To enhance my proficiency, I actively participated in meetings and training sessions dedicated to refining my understanding of census procedures and policies. My commitment extended to engaging professionally with individuals and households, where I skillfully built rapport to encourage cooperation and compliance. From a young age, I have been deeply involved with a non-profit special medical needs animal rescue, actively participating in various roles that encompass both hands-on care and administrative responsibilities.My responsibilities included the direct care of special medical needs animals, involving feeding, medicating, and assisting with minor medical procedures and first aid. I also played a crucial role in animal transportation, requiring adaptability and composure in high-pressure situations, particularly during medical crises.In addition to hands-on care, I undertook various administrative duties, showcasing a diverse skill set.
