CurrentSaint Paul & Minnesota Foundation is the largest community foundation in the state of Minnesota. As CIO, leads the 8-member Foundation investment staff stewarding ~$2B in charitable assets and a $2.4M department budget. Member of the Executive Leadership Team and frequent presenter at U.S. and international industry conferences and events. Report to the CEO. EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP | POLICY DEVELOPMENT | STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS• Staffed and managed the Foundation’s Investment Department through the transition from the OCIO model to an internally staffed team. Created Investment Department processes and procedures.• Built trusting relationships across three boards and three investment committees while leading committees through significant changes in the investment portfolios. • Interact with donor-advised fund holders and 200+ non-profits that utilize the Foundation for investment management.• Led committees through rewriting of investment policy statements, including responsible investing policies. INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT | DUE DILIGENCE | SELECTION | MONITORING • Anticipate and respond to market events including distressed cycle shifts and complex liquidity needs.• Reposition multiple portfolios to reduce underlying manager expenses, simplify structures, and better meet the needs of donor-advised fund holders and non-profit endowment partners. • Lead due diligence on underlying investment managers across all asset classes; utilize network connections to ensure best-in-class sourcing and access to restricted programs. MISSION-ALIGNED IMPACT INVESTING • Developed a $90M pipeline and mission-aligned deal sourcing, impact measurement, reporting, and managed external consulting resources.• Created and implemented mission-aligned measurement processes and procedures across both public and private investments. Facilitated the Foundation’s successful effort to become the first U.S.-based community foundation to become a UN PRI signatory.
