  • Georgia Tech Alumni Association
    Board Chair
Georgia Tech Alumni Association Jul 2021 - Jun 2022
    Atlanta, Ga, Us
This role was an honor and a privilege of a lifetime!I was among the youngest Board Chair who've held this position over the last 100 years and the youngest since 1962. Coming to Georgia Tech in 2001 for my undergrad, at age 16, I quickly went from one of the smartest people in high school to an average student at Tech. It wasn't for lack of trying! I found myself surrounded by some of the most impressive and inspiring people I had met in my life. It was a challenging, humbling, and transformative experience that has positively shaped my life ever since.20 years later, this journey with my Georgia Tech family motivates me in everything I do. I am so grateful for the relationships and mentorship I've received from this group. My service to GT is a labor of love to uplift our students and our university. All of the officers and members of the Board of Trustees share this feeling, and it makes me proud to serve with them.I led a board of 36 trustees, plus a 9-member Executive Committee. It is a diverse board and representative of the ~200,000 alumni we serve. It excites me to know our Vision is within reach: "The vision of the Alumni Association is to build an enduring community with all alumni standing in proud support of Georgia Tech and each other."To my fellow alums: THANK YOU for this opportunity to represent and serve you and our alma mater!
  • Register Wizard (Exited)
    Co-Founder
Register Wizard (Exited) Nov 2010 - Apr 2021
Register Wizard, now called RegWiz, started as a simple idea to solve the cumbersome checkout process associated with online registration and payment for races such as 5Ks, half marathons, etc. In 2011, I personally coded the user interface and software engine that has since processed $millions of dollars in payments for hundreds of events in Arkansas. In 2016 the Sharp Hue team spent almost 1 year rebuilding the software from the ground up to be robust and ready for the future. This latest version builds on the learning of the past 6 years and packages it into a solution that can be implemented by RegWiz Partners to create streamlined and easy-to-use registration websites that earn them extra income.
  • Guardin Fresh
    Co-Founder
    Guardin Fresh 2007 - 2012
Born out of graduate school business plan competitions, I co-founded GuardIN Fresh with a few of my MBA classmates. We licensed nanosilver technology from a University of Arkansas professor and developed various plastic bags and containers aimed at extending the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. I helped give the company a brand and professional presence as we made presentations and pitches to retailers, other research institutions, and Fortune 1000 companies. This company eventually failed due to the licensed technology not performing as expected in non-tropical climates.
  • Bookant
    Founder
    Bookant 2006 - 2008
I founded BookAnt after having great success with GT Online Book Trade since 2002 at Georgia Tech. This experience was my first big failure as an entrepreneur. Though, the knowledge I gained in a short period of time was priceless.I raised money, hired designers and developers, protected intellectual property with legal documents and trademarks, directed photoshoots, designed print marketing, and t-shirts, got approved marketing collateral and flyers to post at Arkansas university campuses, and the list goes on. This company eventually failed because the business model was too seasonal and I made the decision to associate the core software with Facebook's new app ecosystem. There are more than 9 million apps in Facebook. BookAnt was app number 4,000 and it became impossible for me to keep up with the ever-changing Facebook developer platform.
  • Making Technology Simple (Mts)
    Web Engineer
Making Technology Simple (Mts) May 2005 - May 2006
I was part of the ground floor of this startup and saw the company grow to over 20 employees before leaving to complete my MBA. During the fast growth, I held many positions and manager roles in software development, hardware implementation, and consulting. I benefited from exposure to leadership skills and new technologies including CCNA Certification and working with Cisco VoIP technologies for clients like medical & dental practices, a large buy-here-pay-here car company, and a new bank.
  • Maxsurg, Inc.
    Web Engineer
    Maxsurg, Inc. 2004 - 2005
I initially started this job as a summer intern tasked with evaluating and ranking over 100 electronic medical record software packages. This experience led to working part-time while completing my senior year at Georgia Tech. I designed the look and feel of the electronic medical record for the dental and oral surgery field. I used anthropomorphic design to create a visually realistic record with clean white space and organization.
