Working on research, analysis and design innovations in the Electromagnetic aspects of Power transformers focussing on design and theoretical evaluation of large power transformers with impact analysis of potential system level and individual unit performance. The job duties are,> Developed a MATLAB/Simulink model of a novel power transformer developed and patented by ABB, of the power ratings upto 100MVA and voltage ratings upto 500kV.> Used this Matlab/Simulink model to identify the potential areas of dielectric stresses within the power windings by determining the Impulse Voltage and Field distributions on subjecting the transformer windings to a lightning Impulse surge (1.2/50us Standard wave or chopped wave). > Determined the BIL (Basic Insulation Level) rating of the simulated power transformer windings based on the results, and designed dielectric and Insulation material for manufacturing of the simulated power transformer windings.

Currently working with ABB on Techno-economic analysis of a new distribution automation concept apparatus as a part of the requirements for the Capstone project (ECE 583). The job duties are,> Perform techno-economic analysis of a novel distribution transformer patented by ABB, by testing its operational functionality in an IEEE 8500 node test feeder as a test circuit using EPRI's OpenDSS software.> Provide ABB with a IEEE 8500 node test feeder integrated with modern distribution system apparatus like PVs and EVs. Added real time recorded load data in the form of different test cases with peak/light loading and cloudy/sunny day using DOE's yearly load data curves. > Implemented the concept transformer in the test feeder as a black box apparatus and conducted a technical assessment on the benefits and monetary savings due to reduced Imbalance, power losses and other improved power system dynamics.> Also performing an economic assessment by determining the net present value, capital recovery factor, cost of ownership and cost benefit analysis to determine the break-even point of this new concept apparatus.

Worked on project titled "Numerical relay protection and related power system", where I configured relays for a for an oil refinery in Abu-Dhabi using E-TAP software.(*)Recieved hands on experience on MODBUS protocol extensively used for relay communication and co-ordination.(*)Tested L&T numerical relays for their over-current/over-voltage and other power system protection functionalities using Megger amplifier.
