Global Youth Mobilization is a movement of young people taking action to tackle global issues to improve their lives and their communities. Founded in 2020 by the world’s largest youth organizations, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations Foundation.As the Interim Lead i led a global team in the completion of GYM's programmes, advocacy and communications, including GYM's innovative youth-led micro-grant platform, and end of project activities; a series of youth-led events, global project showcases, and panel discussions; GYM's impact report and external evaluation.Additionally, worked with Senior leadership from across the Big Six to secure second round funding with the European Commission.

The GYM is a WHO and UNF funded partnership of the Big 6 youth organisations, empowering young people around the world to develop and deliver solutions to problems created by COVID-19, and to be change-makers in their communities.Currently project managing the Local Solutions Platform, a unique and world-first open call to young people, regardless of background or location, to submit their solutions to the health and societal COVID-19 challenges in their communities. Investing over $1.1 million in over 450 projects across 70 countries. Developed from concept, launched and currently leading GYM's global Accelerator Programme. The AP takes 14 projects from Local Solutions with the potential for scale and impact, and provides a 12-week tailored and immersive learning experience along with one-to-one mentorship by experts in the field and seed funding. - Developed a pipeline of mentors, engaged and built relationships with third party organisations and experts in the fields of international development, social impact and entrepreneurship.- Created processes for mentor matching and led a team responsible for matching mentors with projects, successfully matching all 14 projects.- Supporting 14 projects from across 5 continents to develop their projects for scaling and or replication.- Developed curriculum for a 12-week learning experience and worked with partner organisations to secure facilitators for its delivery.

As a campaigner, speaker and international development professional with 7+ years’ experience in gender justice and women’s empowerment programmes - I continue to support senior leadership in Islamic Relief Worldwide to build global strategies and action on gender justice - both within, and externally as a coalition with faith based organisations across the sector. I joined Prince's Trust International in 2018 to lead on the scaling up of PTI's 'Get Into' employer engagement programme across six states in India - within the unique context of India increasingly becoming one of the world’s most youth-dependent economies. Ultimately an Indian work visa could not be secured for my role and therefore my time here was a brief 2 months. However, in this time i was able to passionately contribute to the organisations work by:- Conducting in-depth and high-level mapping and research into corporate employers with talent, skill and recruitment gaps across Retail and Consumer; Banking and Finance; Hospitality; Automotive and Tech industries. Moreover, create engagement strategies tailored to industry knowledge, international and national policy commitments and plans, and PTI’s international network. - Using 5+ years experience in international development to provide strategic recommendations and advice to the programmes team on participatory approaches in the thematic areas of inclusion, gender mainstreaming, and contextualised development strategies. - Working directly for the Head of Strategy and with colleagues across programmes and partnership teams to create an evidence-based strategic assessment of PTI's potential to expand its global portfolio of programmes in educational attainment.

As the second Chair of Muslim Climate Action, over 2 years i led and coordinated a steering group of the UK's largest/leading Muslim NGOs on climate campaigning, advocacy and programming. Some of our successes in this time included:- The UK's first delegations of Muslim diaspora youth to Conference of the Parties (COP), including the pivotal COP21 in Paris. - Building of strategic relationships with the UN’s Special Adviser on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Climate Change. - Advising the UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) on engaging faith communities. - coordinated campaigning with mainstream and other faith climate organisations including Friends of the Earth; Greenpeace; the Noah Project and more.

As the Head of Strategy for the UK's only Muslim women-led international development NGO, i led on the development of a new ambitious organisational theory of change. By harnessing in-depth experience and learning from across 8 countries and a portfolio of over 25 projects, I restructured priorities; programmes; and advocacy work to create a ‘life-cycle’ approach to empowering women and girls at different life intervals and in different socio-cultural contexts. As part of a new 3 year strategy I led diverse teams to align outcomes with an organisational impact strategy aimed at creating thought leadership in humanitarian and development gender mainstreaming, religio-cultural approaches to community development, and sustainable programmes across health, livelihoods, agriculture and WASH. Other key responsibilities included:• Development of organisation-wide gender mainstreaming strategies, through quality improvement frameworks, MEAL indicators and enhanced partnerships strategy.• Creation of policy, research and advocacy functions, aimed at supporting global programmes through production of creative resources and publications. Moreover, advocacy efforts to support gendered and contextualised approaches in the thematic areas of sexual and reproductive health, livelihoods and WASH. • Network building and policy-level engagement • Donor relationship management, compliance and reporting. Oversight of funding streams; institutional; community and consortia.

I joined the organisation as a Programme Manager, during which time i led on the establishment of country offices in Kenya and Bangladesh, multi-country programme development and opportunities to produce high quality research and publications. After two years i was promoted to Head of Programmes.Key responsibilities included:• Line management and performance management of the London based programmes team, country offices, and liaison with HR to ensure support to a well-developed staff well-being approach.• Oversight and support for quality design, delivery and implementation of programmes, sustainability strategies and resource mobilisation.• Oversight and support for MEAL processes and production of key learning outcomes and documents internally and externally. • Donors and stakeholder relationship management, building long term partnerships with institutional donors, governments and NGOs. • Internal lead and external contact for key grants including DFID, Comic Relief and the Islamic Development Bank. • Coordination of annual planning processes, supporting the development of effective country strategic plans, and capacity building of country offices to deliver and share learning. • Monitoring progress of projects and achievements of milestones against project management key documents, in coordination with country offices, partners and finance teams.

• Providing strategic input into the fundraising agenda, outreach and public relations activities, and the organization of international internal and external events including a public Pre-launch event for the Institute in Dubai (2012).• Developed and implemented programme to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors, trusts and foundations including the Prince’s Trust, The Victoria and Albert Museum, and the British Pakistan Foundation and others.• Wrote successful grant-proposals and funding applications.• Administrative duties included producing central contact and donor databases; managing online correspondences, recording financial accounts and ensuring compliance with policies of the Charity Commission and other affiliate bodies

All done through qualitative and quantitative techniques to ensure validity of thematic issues.• Providing financial reporting and accounting.• Organising roundtable forums. Including one at the Academy of Medical Sciences bringing together donors and major stakeholders’ incl. Rotary International, the Chair of Public Health England and Chatham House as well as community leaders from across the UK. Resulting in 100% support pledge from attendees to eradicate polio towards a Diaspora-led Polio Eradication under the auspices of the WHO and Global partners coalition.

Coached and mentored a team of twelve young people aged 17-18 on the National Citizen Service Programme - a twelve week community based project in a low-income London borough.
