I am delighted to be appointed as the new Northern Ireland regional lead for ABDO. For the last three years I have sat on Optometry Northern Ireland, firstly as an independently elected representative and more recently as the ABDO representative on the committee. My sole reason for putting myself forward, and joining ONI was to give dispensing opticians a voice and to raise the profile of our profession.Dispensing opticians are a valuable cog in the wheel of how a practice is ran and there is so much more opportunity for us to be providing extra services, especially here in Northern Ireland. I feel that this is an exciting time to be a dispensing optician and I am looking forward to providing an eager voice to platform our ideas and outline where we see opportunities for the profession to grow.
