Currently, Shareef is working as a lecturer at the software Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at Salahaddin University. He received an MSc in Digital Communications Networks in 2005 from London Metropolitan University-UK with distinction. He has worked as an expert in the ICT Center at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan Region of Iraq in 2007. He joined the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering at the University of East London as a PhD student in April 2009. He is an active researcher in the area of eGovernment initiatives in developing countries. He has published various papers along with participation in reviewing various conferences such as European Conference on E-government. He is also a member of many professional bodies in his area of specialization, such as IET. He became a Fellow of Higher Education Academy in the UK in 2011. In addition, he is leading a project to automate the building construction permission in the municipalities in Erbil-the capital of Kurdistan and Baghdad-the capital of Iraq with cooperation with International Finance Corporation (IFC) a member of the World Bank Group. He also worked as a Head of Software Engineering Department at College of Engineering at Salahaddin University since 2012 until 2017.
