• Managing CAD-US cross-border tax engagements and developing tax planning strategies.• Preparation of complex 1040, 1040-NR, 1120-F, state and other US compliance tax filings.• Preparation of complex T1, T2, T3, T4, and other Canadian compliance tax filings.• In-depth research and interpretation of the application of the Canada-US tax treaty.• Maintaining awareness of changes in US and Canadian tax legislation.

• Meet with employers in Alberta to gain an understanding of their organization, industry and to create their CPA candidate training program.• Conduct detailed assessments submitted by CPA candidates coming through PPR, as well as those coming through the Experience Verification Route (EVR).• Partner with other Practical Experience Specialists to ensure consistency in assessments between candidate assessments and pre-approved training maps and messaging provided.• Participate in the development of practical experience policies and materials for CPA Alberta candidates.

• Managing and reviewing audit, review, Notice to Reader, and other non-assurance engagements;• Overseeing staff workflow, performance, and scheduling;• Assisting staff with in-depth technical knowledge on complex accounting matters;• Reviewing a wide array of corporate (T2), charity (T3010, T1044) and personal (T1) tax returns;• Communicating with current and potential clients; maintaining and growing client relationships;• Facilitating firm presentations on accounting and assurance and providing professional support to team members on MNP’s audit software and methodology.

• Performing end-to-end audit and review engagements including planning, execution, analysis and reporting;• Testing adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls through an analysis of the audit results;• Managing and detail reviewing the work of other staff on various review and audit engagements;• Analyzing and resolving complex ASPE accounting issues including: business combinations, goodwill, intangible assets, joint arrangements, and operating vs. capital lease assessments;• Assisting ASPE and ASPNO clients with general ledger reconciliations and accounting policies;• Preparing a wide array of corporate (T2), charity (T3010, T1044) and personal (T1) tax returns;• Performing client interviews and leading meetings to facilitate effective engagement execution;
