In this role, I apply my knowledge and experience gained working underground and as a mining engineer to support the wider adoption of battery-electric equipment, jumbo-bolting, as well as automation. Converted the Post Pillar C&F to Bulk Stoping - led management of change and re-optimized mine plan and resources to achieve. Added 2 years worth of reserves due to drop in COG. Took over the Daily, 7+21, and 3-month scheduling from the on-site contractor as part of the transition to Company personnelImplemented Site Alignment Resolution to resolve upcoming conflicts by prioritizing planned work between Operations, Electrical, Fixed Plant, and Mobile MaintenanceSupported implementation of Short Interval Control App for Voisey’s Bay Underground Operations.Administered a fairly complex monthly underground hourly incentive system.

Underground Mine OperationsResponsibilities: help implement strategic productivity initiatives and identify risks and opportunities for mine operations across production, development, construction, backfill, logistics, and maintenance.Learned operation of Simba E7 drills and blasting using CBS (Orica Blaster 3000 CBB). Helped run air and water services, install and repair vent pipe, and operate MacLean series decks.

Mine Planning - Drill, Blast, and Fill PlanningResponsibilities included: Design and coordinate planning activities for cut and fill stopes as well as longhole stopes in a high NPR Nickel-Copper-PGM Orebody - responsible for 1,000tpd of overall 2,400tpd production profile.Setup Deswik UGDB and worked with IREDES and Epiroc Tunnel Manager for Autonomous Drilling using E7 C-ITH Drills. Projects included: managing operations changes by championing push-in fill barricades, sloughmeters for orepass integrity, and initiatives for reducing drilling and blasting intensity. Co-chaired the Dewatering Committee – led a study to improve dewatering performance of the mine’s sumps and pump. Helped create a water balance for the mine in PIVision DCS.

Ventilation Lead - Long Range Planning - Ventilation Design and Capital Projects - Copper Cliff North Mine and South Mine ProjectDesigned the ventilation system for the Project focussing on ventilating South Mine. Worked with Mine Design to optimize underground network using data analytics to maximize total concurrent activities by day and smoothen production profile over the LOM.Responsibilities included: Copper Cliff South Mine ventilation redesign, Phase 2 UKL Brownfieldsventilation design, ventilation raise sizing, FEL 3/4 level design report, and working with onsite ventilation supervisors at North Mine and South Project with infrastructure asset management.

Worked on the Gold River Extension Scoping and PFS for the LOMP for Timmins West Mine and Wetmore Deposit Scoping Study for LOMP for Bell Creek Mine.Responsibilities included: LOM ventilation modelling and raise size determination, initial and sustaining CAPEX estimation, surface infrastructure requirement estimation, surface waste dump sizing, and LOM scoping study for ventilation of Wetmore deposit.

Aided the Ventilation Technician in completing weekly mine heading ventilation surveys, issuing and monitoring fan moves, updating 3D mine models in VentSIM, and meeting OHSA Regulation 183. Helped conduct underground ground control QA/QC as well as inspections for secondary support. Designed stopes and longhole blasts within the Timmins OB. Worked with Dyno Technical Support in improving actual mining recovery versus planned for uppers stopes.Responsibilities include: Weekly Ventilation Meeting, Production and Cable-bolt Drillbooks, Production Blast Letters, Numerical Modelling, and Ground Support & Rehabilitation Prints.

Aided the Lead Surveyor in completing Line & Grades, Heading Pickups, Cavity Monitoring Surveys, Production & Cable-bolt Drilling Markups, and issuing Driving Layouts. Helped lay out operating development planning and driving layouts for the 144 East OB. Responsibilities included: Daily Reporting, Weekly Production Meeting, Backfill Packages, Stope Reconciliations, Borehole & Raise Driving Layouts, and other Engineering Prints.

Summer Internship Worked on the Pre-Calciner Heating Project to reuse heat generated by the kiln to preheat the calciner kiln feed to increase kiln clinker throughput and decrease pet-coke consumption for heating.

Summer Internship Successfully completed a preventative maintenance scheduling system for the fixed plant equipment.Internal estimates projected annual cost savings of up to $2.5M and downtime by up to 240 hours.Worked under supervision of the Plant Manager which included logistics, project supervision, and regulatory compliance among other ad hoc individual projects.

Labour in plant operations. Worked within the Raw Mill Grinding Circuit and the Clinker Reclaim Circuit on the Finish Mill processing side.Equipment operated: Toyota Forklift, Skid Steer Bobcat, and Cat 9500 Front Loader.
