Underground Drills Specialist
CurrentIn this role, I apply my knowledge and experience gained working underground and as a mining engineer to support the wider adoption of battery-electric equipment, jumbo-bolting, as well as automation. In this role, I have learned common causes of failures, troubleshooting and repair methods, and in general, about mechanical engineering design, electrical design, and control system design.Responsibilities - - workshop support- on-site visits to evaluate product performance and providing next-steps and root-cause analysis reports- customer methodology reviews to optimize processes (bolting with jumbo-bolter, bolting with mechanized boom bolter, tele-remote operation of jumbos and long-hole drills)- field-service support (supporting the field service technicians as needed)- working with the factory design teams on product design improvements as well as new features- after-market business development- arranging and managing drill and related product trials- supporting the sales team with business developmentAccomplishments:- Helped execute the product delivery schedule to achieve 60+ UG drills delivered to customers in FY2023, earning the 'Shift to Growth' Award from the SMR UG Division- Helped execute the strategy of replacing Maclean Bolters at Newmont with 12 x DD422i-DC Jumbos- Helped execute the switch from classic drills to i-series jumbos at Glencore Raglan Mine- Led the successful product trial of DS412i Bolter at Glencore Kidd Creek Mine and delivered/supported conference presentations at CIM with site team- Led the implementation of Trajectaflex Resin cartridge firing on DD422i-DC Jumbos- With DSI support, working towards implementing pumpable resin retrofit on DS411 Bolters- Leading the implementation of digital tools for UG Drills - DrillConnect trial - gave presentation at CIM Montreal regarding the use of MWD technology on board Sandvik drills to estimate local lithologies in stopes
