An organisation with over 1200 employees, 4 printing centres (including Chandigarh) and over 20 sub-offices located in various parts of the country; publishing three dailies The Tribune, Dainik Tribune and Punjabi Tribune with their online editions.Job responsibilities include:1. Maintenance of Computer Hardware and Software installed at Head Office and remote locations.2. Installation/configuration of servers under different platforms of Windows including Active Directory, Printing & Sharing and other required functions.3. Routine maintenance of Oracle databases for ERP, Classified Booking, Digitization of Newspaper Clippings and Attendance machines.4. Taking backups and restoration of data of Oracle databases.5. Complete installation and maintenance of Lotus servers being used for different purposes including Mail Server (www.tribunemail.com), Blackberry Server, Editorial Workflow System (Smartflow), Remote Reporter Server as well as servers installed in other offices for transfer of stories.6. Complete installation/configuration of New Smartflow (Editorial Workflow System) under dotnet on SQL server.7. Management of Security using firewalls including hardware firewall Cyberoam 200i and Symantec Firewall for managing flow of internet traffic to/from outside world.and using Anti-virus software Mcafee or servers using EPO and clients on different Windows platforms.8. Management of LAN and WAN using leased lines on CISCO and 3-Com routers/switches being used for connectivity with various offices.9. Management of Attendance Machines of M/s Savior installed in Head Office as well as other offices of the organisation.10. Management of wired services for receiving Agency News and Photographs like PTI, UNI, Bhasha, Varta, Reuters, AFP, ANI, and others.11. Management of online as well as epaper editions for all three publications.12. Management of Display Tickers installed at different offices for display of news.

Apart from the above functions, developed various softwares/utilities being used in the organisation:1. Developed network monitoring utility that continuously pings a configurable list of computers/switches/routers etc. and displays the result in matrix form including connectivity status, latency and other statistics.2. Developed software for managing/editing Bhasha/Varta stories including their basketing.3. Developed Converter software for converting other Hindi fonts (including Unicode) to Chanakya font being used for Dainik Tribune.4. Developed software for entry and flow of Punjabi and Hindi Classified Advertisements being used for Dainik Tribune and Punjabi Tribune.5. Developed Ticker software being used by Advertisement Section to display important message to be flashed on the screens of all Advertisement systems.6. Developed module for being used in the Advertisement flow system of Display Advertisements while tagging the advertisements.7. Developed utility to store/retrieve telephone nos., IPs or any other information.8. Developed various other utilities being used in the organisation by different departments to fulfil their day to day works.

1. Developed Games and Educational Programmes for children under the project 'Computers for Schools' under MPLAD Scheme in BASIC language in 1995 & 1996.2. Developed Dictionary English to English in Pascal under DOS that could also operate with the help of mouse.3. Developed various database applications including Translation/Transliteration of Names from English to Punjabi for the processing of Punjab School Education Board results in Visual Foxpro.4.
