I graduated from Hunter College with my BA in English Adolescent Education and am certified in English Language Arts for grades 7-12. My passion for social equity teaching and advocacy in education led me to pursue my master's in Adolescent Literacy for grades 5-12. My hope is to inspire students to advocate for themselves and to provide them with an equitable education so that they learn beyond the classroom. My expertise as a writing tutor has changed the way I teach writing (and reading) to students, making use of the Socratic approach to guide students through the writing process. My new role as coordinator/interim department has allowed me to oversee my department’s needs and enhance teacher development through monthly professional development meetings and weekly coaching meetings. In my spare time, I dive into as many books as possible because reading has always been a safe haven for me, as has writing, so when I’m not actively working on a novel, I'm most likely daydreaming about another work in progress, writing poetry, doing arts and crafts, baking, or spending time with my family. My passion for reading and writing will always push me to help my students find their voice and safe place through books and the written word.
