As a kid I always dreamed of being a nurse. I remember when I was 11 years old and my dad became ill. While at the hospital I watched how the nurses would work on my dad. Then one day they said he was well enough to come home. I thought to myself "WOW! The nurses made my daddy better". From that point on I knew my calling was in healthcare. I started out in college majoring in pre-nursing. However, I ended up with an Associates Degree in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT). During my externships I learned about the process of health records. I am very interested in this field because of the professional opportunities available in hospitals, physician offices, state and federal facilities, information system vendors, insurance companies, and long-term facilities.I believe that as a health information technician, I will be able to sufficiently deliver the best technical knowledge and skills necessary to process, maintain, compile and report health information data.
