The BLI was originally developed by Arthur L. Piccone of Kingston in 1995-96 during his year as PBA president to strengthen the PBA’s ongoing efforts to recruit and develop leaders of the association. The first chair of the institute, Gretchen A. Mundorff of Connellsville, re-launched the BLI when she became the 2010-11 president of the PBA. In order to be considered, candidates had to demonstrate leadership ability, commit to attendance and participation in the required events, be currently licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, be a PBA member, and be age 38 years or younger or have practiced five years or less.

Provided legal advice and representation in immigration law, family law, employment law, and other matters to people in the central Pennsylvania region.

Restarted the IINE's Legal Program to provide immigration legal services to low-income clients. Represented and provided brief advice to clients in family reunification, citizenship, and VAWA cases. Provided community presentations on immigration law issues. A member of local domestic violence task forces and professional immigration workgroups.

In addition to my duties as a staff attorney at the CLRP, I also provided direction and attended to administrative and supervision matters as the legal director.

As staff attorney of the Civil Legal Representation Project (CLRP), I represented domestic and sexual violence survivors in family law and immigration law matters in Centre County.

I worked as a volunteer Interviewer Advocate at the Domestic Violence Institute's medical-legal partnership with Boston Medical Center. I interviewed clients in the emergency room at BMC on a biweekly 6-hour shift and provided brief advice on issues relating to public benefits, restraining orders, and family law issues to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault under the supervision of an attorney. I later became a Team Leader, where I supervised 6-8 law students on my shift during my second and third years of law school. I provided feedback on client narratives and led the safety planning and legal analysis for immediate client needs.During my third year, I participated in the DVI clinic, where I represented clients during their restraining order hearings in the Roxbury and Dorchester District Courts under the supervision of an attorney.

Conducted research and drafted legal memos on issues relating to business law, employment law, and commercial leaseholds. Drafted responses to discovery requests, motions, and briefs in civil litigation matters. Drafted ICANN complaint regarding dispute over domain name assignment.

Observed family and probate court cases at the Middlesex County Family and Probate Court. Drafted a judicial opinion after trial on a divorce and custody matter.
