I began my career in 1991. I was a Personal Lines Underwriter for several years. Then I had the opportunity to learn the commercial BOP program. I helped develop the platform, policy and coverages. With only 2 BOP Underwriters, I had the task of managing approximately 82 agencies. Later, I decided that Personal Lines offered a bigger challenge and was my higher interest. I was given the opportunity to resume my Personal Lines career in which I benefited the most to help grow into an even more valuable employee and Underwriter. I currently and successfully manage 36 agents plus a few satellite offices in the state of Texas. Risk Management for both the Farm Mutual and Casualty companies play an important role in both. I have a great understanding of policy jacket details, TDI rules, and underwriting guidelines. I conduct training classes for new and existing agencies, as well as current or new Underwriters. In addition to guidelines, our Company's philosophy and an Underwriter's role is continually taught to my piers. I also review and underwrite new prospects and existing business. Agency audits and maintaining high retention levels are also my responsibility while managing these agents across the state. I travel in order to conduct an agency visit to each agent in order to manage yearly projections, loss ratio, and production levels. Marketing techniques are also discussed. I maintain a professional and productive business relationship with the agents. Knowledge about the current insurance industry plays an important role in my position. The process of implementing new products, coverages or endorsements are also part of my job responsibilities. As a Senior Personal Lines Underwriter, I also give instruction or advice to other Underwriters seeking information. I am a role model for them and it gives me joy to share my wealth of information to help them grow as an employee and as an individual.
