Responsible for advancing the safety mandate for Nova Scotia construction workers. This includes the management and continuous improvement of existing programs as well as the planning, leading, and implementation of projects in support of the yearly strategic operational plan. Additional Responsibilities Include:• Managing procurement of resources required to realize projects including the supervision of consultants, content/curriculum developers, contractors, vendors of services, suppliers of equipment and in-house subject matter expertise;• Strategic project and program planning including research analyses, industry scans, and cost-benefit analysis Identifying, coordinating, and optimizing divisional resource participation (staff, finances, schedule, etc.) in service implementation projects;• Planning, leading, and overseeing the implementation of complex internal and external stakeholder-based projects, programs, and deliverables; and• Facilitating governance of projects and programs to ensure project KPIs and expectations are managed.

Responsible for management of large scale public consultation, planning, feasibility, funding, service and infrastructure projects with budgets ranging from $100 Thousand up to $1 Million to support the City’s growth, redevelopment and sustainability initiatives.Additional Responsibilities Included:• Led a multi-disciplinary team of City staff, contractors, and consultants in the planning, conceptual design, process improvement, hydraulic analysis, CSO characterization and reporting, and infrastructure management of the City’s wastewater systems (previously managed planning projects of the City’s lake-based and groundwater-based water, wastewater, and stormwater systems); • Through the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process, with extensive collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders, evaluated various alternative solutions and innovative technologies against Triple Bottom Line criteria (community, environment, and economic implications) to determine the preferred project alternative for the City; • Multi-tasking proficiency over a wide range of technical and administrative skills including funding applications, briefing notes, financial reports, RFPs, RFQs, and technical analysis summaries.• Creator and Co-Chair of the Environmental Assessment Working Group which was created to provide City Project Managers with a forum to advocate the use of Project Management tools, best practices and lessons learned for successful completion of Municipal Class EAs and Master Plans; and• Participated in the preparation of departmental current budgets, developing project and capital budgets, and aiding in the preparation of sectional reports related to services, financial, KPIs, administration and staff performance.

Responsible for coordinating and supervising a multi-disciplinary team of consultants and contractors in all aspects of work relating to process improvement and municipal infrastructure management of the City’s water and wastewater systems.

Responsible for representing the City at various landfill related public meetings, evaluating analytical reports to determine if data is in conformance, providing technical support on environmentally sensitive projects, reviewing and evaluating technical consultant reports, assisting in the preparation of annual monitoring reports and performing field inspections.

Responsible for sample collection and analytical analysis of environmental samples including waters, wastewaters, municipal industrial samples, landfill leachates, sludges and soils.

Reported directly to the President and was responsible for managing a team of individuals to meet the needs of the company’s largest national multi-million dollar contract with a leading petroleum company. Recognized by Client for Customer Service and Project Management excellence.

Completed a variety of phased environmental site assessments, watershed, surface water/stormwater studies, water quality, climate change, land use and civil projects for public and private sector clients. Accountable for report writing, dealing with contractors, supervising monitoring well installations and test pitting, as well as field sampling various matrices including drinking water, surface water, groundwater, effluent, leachate, air, soil and bulk samples. Extensive use of various provincial and federal regulations, acts, guidelines and by-laws.

Refined critical skills in providing expert guidance to clients on sampling and analyses requirements. Prepared methods and instrumentation calibration to support analyses, provided sample preparation, prepared all necessary chemicals and reagents, and resolved and performed preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.

Acted as an Environmental Scientist and/or Civil Engineering Technologist on various phased environmental site assessments, remediation projects, erosion and sedimentation studies, watershed studies, air monitoring, and municipal water supply studies for communities throughout Nova Scotia.
