Retail Banking Supervision

Proactive engagement with a wide range of UK consumer organisations including Which?, Ciitzens Advice and the FSA Consumer Panel to understand emerging issues and gather data and information to inform the FSA/FCA approach.

• Designed and presented aggregated risk information for/to senior management level committees covering external, firm and internal risks.• Managed the relationship between Risk Management and the other areas within the FSA by building a trusted reputation for providing an independent risk management view to senior management and working level contacts. Included being the only Risk Management representative at senior management committees, particularly Supervision committees.• Developed, maintained and was the first point of independent challenge for the process which provides FSA senior management with a view of all the thematic work taking place in the organisation to enable the effective prioritisation of risk and resource. • Assessor for the FSA’s Graduate Development Programme – assessment centres and final interviews.

Young People: Strategy and Development • Strategic lead for policy round table events bringing together key policy makers in all four countries of the UK in the NEET (not in education, employment or training) sector to improve the financial capability of this vulnerable group.Partnership Development • Led Development work of the team in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Example – Identified the need for a Financial Capability resource in Scotland for (ex) offenders, carried out extensive research, put together a stakeholder group of key policy makers in the sector and then presented the evidence to the Scottish Government Financial Inclusion team. As a result they funded the resource, which was subsequently launched.

• Relationship manager of medium sized Insurance companies. • Conducting Risk Assessments, working with technical specialist to produce in-depth capital analysis of firms and providing justification to independent panels.

• Liaison/relationships with stakeholders around the business (at all levels including MD). • Development and implementation of Performance Evaluation framework measuring the FSA's progress towards its strategic aims.

• Production of guidance for Citizens Advice Bureaux and partner organisations on gaining financial capability funding. This was extremely well received internally and externally and is a recognised document in the financial capability field (although now out of date). Presented the guidance at the Citizens Advice National Money Conference.• Solid understanding of how Citizens Advice and other advice agencies function.
