Designed and developed embedded software for an electro-hydraulic power unit on bare metal. This effort involved getting to know the Renasas RZ/T1 and the STM32F429ZI micro-controllers intimately. Wrote device drivers for various micro-controller hardware circuits (clock generation, interrupt controller, timers, pulse generators), and various I/O ports (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO). Created generic re-usable software components (PID controller, profiler, ring buffer), used in real-time closed-feedback loops for controlling motor speed/direction and hydraulic pressure.Wrote back-end code in Python using the Django Rest Framework in a Docker development environment.Adapted an existing software application to run on an Android OS using Kotlin.Maintained an existing software product running on a Linux server using C++17 and Python.Used Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket and Bamboo) for development, collaboration, and continuous integration with team members under the Agile methodology, and Git for SCM.

Ported a geolocation algorithm for the exploitation of communications signals from Matlab to Java.Received and re-transmitted real-time audio data using RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) over a multicast network with an extended header for application-specific data.Developed software under the Agile Methodology using JIRA for planning and tracking purposes.

Developed an application utilizing AES-256 encryption to ease the transmittal of sensitive data and deployment of classified software used in an electronic warfare system. Developed situational awareness displays and generated log files for an electronic warfare system. The software was successfully ported and integrated into multiple electronic warfare systems.Developed motion control algorithms for brush-less and brushed DC motors used in a directional antennas. Implemented real-time PID control loops to execute point, spin, and sector modes. This software was designed to include programmable PID loop constants stored in EEPROM for adaptability to antennas with physical mass and weight distribution differences. This software has been deployed in numerous antenna pedestals over the past 8 years and has not required any re-work to this day. Developed an RF filter and blanking system which included real-time communication with external subsystems, and a GUI for stand-alone testing. This effort was completed under IRAD. Interfaced daily with System Engineers to develop reasonable requirements. Carefully designed object-oriented classes and interfaces for ease of functional expandability and adaptability. The stand-alone GUI continues to be invaluable for unit testing and system integration. The software was successfully integrated into a system with minimal re-work for new requirements.Developed navigational data simulators for multiple platforms, each requiring unique sets of 1553B or ARINC messages. These simulators help ensure seamless integration with external equipment, and to expose interface errors early in the system integration phase.Analyzed and improved upon a precision direction finding algorithm using input from a spinning antenna, resulting in increased accuracy and dependability over an array of signal types. Over the years, this algorithm has been ported to all of the company’s products and has helped to bring in more contracts.

Developed the signal tracking portion of an airborne radar warning system. Signal parameters such as PRI, frequency, AOA, pulse width, amplitude, scan mode, and MOP information are processed for signal identification, and reported for ECM purposes.

Developed DSL modem drivers for broadband networking. The driver provided modem control (open/close, configuration and diagnostics), real-time monitoring of the link, and auto-recovery of link failures.Developed SLIC/SLAC drivers for voice capability (configuration of the SLAC, control of SLIC modes, detection of on/off hook and dialed-digit events, ring control, and call termination).

Developed multi-tasking embedded software for Wideband Equalizer-Demodulators which involved interfacing with all board components: EEPROMs, ASICs, FPGAs, and serial communication devices.Sampled signals and interpreted the frequency spectrums to identify signal characteristics such as baud rate, carrier frequency, and modulation type. Developed symbol timing and carrier recovery loops for the real-time demodulation of PSK, QAM, ASK, and FSK signals used in voice channels, satellite communication, and modem signals: involved development, implementation, and fine tuning of DSP algorithms, and the configuration and control of ASICs.Developed verification software for ASICs running error correction codes (Viterbi, Reed-Solomon).Supported quick-turnaround marketing efforts and studies, resulting in a successful test run for HDTV signals: involved solving signal distortion problems such as AM hum, phase noise, multipath, and interference.
