I have been practicing law in Los Angeles, California since 1986. In the past couple years I have pivoted my practice away from business and real estate litigation after 34 years to focus primarily on asset protection matters, estate and trust planning, business succession planning, trust administration and entity formations. Recently my husband and law partner Ron Hughes suddenly passed away, so I shut down Hughes & Hughes, LLP, as of December 31, 2023, and now practice as a sole practitioner from my homes in Florida and Georgia where my family lives.Although my practice is remote, which it has been now for almost two years, I make quarterly visits to Los Angeles, or, as needed visits. Zoom meetings and teleconferences are the essentials of my practice. I have found that timely communication with a client and making them feel "taken care of" are the important aspects of a remote practice. In reality, since Covid most clients do not want to spend time traveling for a meeting that can be done by Zoom!Practice focus: Asset protection for estate and business planning matters, estate planning with a focus on business owner clients, trust administration to carry out the wishes of the trustmaker upon their passing and to assist the beneficiaries. I also work with businesses and individuals in Chapter 7 bankruptcy matters, and Chapter 11 reorganization for individuals and business entities.
