Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Student Success is responsible for providing leadership to create a campus environment that supports and sustains student success through a collaborative process with Academic Affairs, Campus Life, Enrollment Management and other college constituents. The AVP brings an intentional approach that engages the entire campus in a community of care surrounding our students, to both improve their academic and personal experience at Emerson and their progress to degree completion. The AVP serves to inspire student growth and success by fostering a caring and collaborative campus community united in helping students overcome the challenges that arise where education and life intersect. This position serves to create synergies between and among multiple programs in ways that will maximize and expand opportunities for students to engage in high-impact educational practices that contribute to realizing academic, personal and professional potential.

In this inaugural role, the AVP provides strategic leadership, planning, implementation, and measured operational excellence related to the areas housed under Student Affairs. The AVP assists the VP in developing multi-year budgets and capital spending plans, provides leadership in operations, change management, project management, staff management and represents the VP and division of Student Affairs. The AVP provides a holistic approach to strengthen Emerson’s capacity to provide and deliver outstanding student service and quality student experience. The AVP ensures that student services are congruent with academic values and learning outcomes and that the voice of students is reflected in the services and policies of the college. The AVP supports the development, implementation and assessment of programs, services and initiatives that enhance the overall student experience on campus and assists in establishing a student culture that is supportive of diversity and inclusion where students respect difference, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership.
