As Festival Director, I created and delivered the entire event, on behalf of the South Melbourne Business Association. 25000 people attended the event, an impressive number for a first time event. In addition to the usual operational requirements for delivering a Street Festival, I ensured that the event delivered benefits to local businesses far beyond the event day itself. Event components aimed at directly at this included;* QR Code program that delivered digital promotional lists post event to participating businesses* Special Offer cards supplied free of charge to participating businesses to encourage return visits* 35 In-Store events and workshops taking the public through the precinct and providing pre-event publicity* Arts in the Window program pairing local Creative businesses with Retailers, extending publicity two weeks prior to the event and including a People's Choice award* A series of 6 Business training seminars supporting businesses to get the best our of the day, including training for restaurant to operate temporary food stalls, Visual Merchandising, Social Media and Stallholders. All caterers at the event were local businesses, ensuring the event genuinely represented and showcased the local area.I also delivered the following;I facilitated workshops to clarify event aims, secured sponsorship, liaised with Council including submission of all documentation, Liaised with Police, Liquor licensing and other authorities, coordinated traffic management,Managed budget, site plan, staffing, liaised with all stallholders, programmed street and on-stage entertainment, sound and lighting.

The Falls Music and Arts Festival runs Dec 29-31 in Tasmanian and Dec 28-31 in Victoria each year. A total of around 32 000 patrons attend, camping on site. In this role, my responsibilities included;*Bar Stock and equipment - Forecasting stock requirements, negotiating with suppliers, transport and logistics for Temporary Bar set ups in greenfield environments in two states. *Staffing - Recruitment, selection, training, succession planning, rostering across 15 hr trading days ensuring award conditions were met. Consistently achieved 50% staff return rate which is significantly higher than the industry norm of 10% for similar events. Built an online database for managing staffing details, including automated communications, management of RSA certifications, carpooling etc.* Responsible Serving of Alcohol - ensuring all requirements were met. The Falls Festival has a much lower rate of incidents and injury than similar festivals in part as a result of actively managing this.* Caterers and Market Stalls - managed recruitment, selection, site fees, site planning and logistics, insurance and certifications* Sponsor Liaison - active work with sponsors to ensure workable arrangements are put in place and effectively delivered.* Waste Wise - contributed to the Festival's Certification under this program

The Australasian Association of Campus Activities (AACA) is the national professional organisation of people who run events on Australian tertiary campuses to represent their interests in professional development, networking and national initiatives within the campus activities field. We have existed for over 25 years, and have an impressive track record of running major national initiatives that attract significant sponsorship. I worked on the Executive in a voluntary capacity in the 1990's and an now contracted as the Executive Officer, In addition, I provide Events Managment services to them via my company, Flying Colours Events. Theses include the annual Conference, as well as work on initiatives including The National Campus Band Competition, Future DJ (A DJ Competition), The National Tertiary Art Prize and The U Film Fest.

National Marketing role within the tertiary education sector

In this role I managed an events program attended by Students and the General Public. The largest of these events were sold out at 2100 patrons, and were all-night events featuring live music and comedy stages, cinema, nightclub, food and bar areas. These events were held in a University setting where each of the spaces were managed by different departments, and a vast set of internal and external rules and regulations needed to be complied with. This role gave me invaluable real life training in Stakeholder Management. I also managed a considerable budget with variability in both Income and Expenditure, and teams of both paid and volunteer staff. I was responsible for all areas of the events program, from choosing and negotiating contracts for artists, programming the running of the events, creating and implementing marketing campaigns, managing suppliers, sourcing sponsorship, ensuring Audio Visual requirements were delivered, Safety and Risk management, applying for Liquor licences, (including complex licensing arrangements where separate areas for over and under 18s were integrated into the same event) Engaging Security and all other tasks required to deliver the program.
