Staff: 20I headed up the RAA’s high-profile and progressive public affairs team representing the interests of nearly 600,000 South Australian motorists on a very broad range of issues – economic, social, political, environmental and technological – with a view to influencing government policy, industry practice and member/community awareness.I was responsible for public policy, strategic communications, traffic & safety, and legal advisory services. Specific activities included leadership of public policy analysis, debate and development at State and national level ensuring advocacy and policy formulation was built on evidence-based initiatives, quality research and constructive relationships; enhancement of government, stakeholder and media relations; member opinion research and consultation; campaign development and execution; sponsorship activities; and production of member, stakeholder and staff communications including the RAA’s member magazine, samotor.I actively represented the RAA on a number of government, business and industry committees at national and State level in relation to road funding, road safety, driver training, and the environment.

Also a Member of the TRACsa Remuneration Committee.Governed by an independent Board appointed by the Treasurer and chaired by the Hon. Greg Crafter, TRACsa was established by the SA Government in December 2005 as an independent, non-profit organisation. Funded through the Motor Accident Commission, TRACsa was created in response to extensive research that showed that people with compensable injuries had poorer recovery rates than persons who incurred the same injuries outside of compensation settings. Initially, TRACsa’s focus was on recommending improvements to achieve better health and social outcomes for persons who had suffered road trauma, however, this later expanded to include people injured in the workplace.
