Sharon King is the Vice President of Development for Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Dallas, a financial literacy, housing education and counseling nonprofit established in 1974, with offices in Dallas, Arlington, Austin, Amarillo, Texas and Oklahoma and Colorado.Through the years while holding several executive positions in various organizations, Sharon has been committed to the social services sector. She has been a staff professional or a volunteer in numerous non-profits in both Atlanta and Dallas for over 35 years, including the United Way in both cities.Among the local boards of directors she currently serves or has served: LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas), as President; Girl Scouts of NE Texas; Community Council of Greater Dallas; The Warren Center; The Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol Advisory Board. Sharon is a former board member of: The Dallas Summit; the Dallas Women’s Foundation; the Association of Fund Raising Professionals; and the Women’s Council of Dallas County. She is a member of the Executive Women’s Round Table of the Dallas Regional Chamber and a graduate of Leadership Dallas, Leadership Texas and Leadership America. King also serves as a consultant in the nonprofit sector in areas of board development and governance, strategic planning and fund development.She is a member and ordained elder of First Presbyterian Church in Dallas, where she serves as a trustee of the First Presbyterian Foundation. At home, she is wife to Marvin King for 46 years , mother of three grown daughters: Jennifer, Michele and Brittany; the adopted mother of Kristin Farmer and the grandmother of five grandchildren.
