I am a bilingual journalist and copywriter for regional, Irish, and international publications and online media. For twenty years and counting, I’ve delivered fresh, informative, and engaging feature articles, opinion pieces, personal columns, and copy for commercial and advertorial purposes to a wide range of clients.I write in English and in Irish across topics that include health and wellbeing; food, nutrition, and how we eat now; social and women’s issues; parenting and relationships; and the changing face of Irish society and the Irish language. I write copy and advertorial too, tailoring my tone to suit my client’s brand and audience. My work in this sector is as wide-ranging as my journalism. For my local newspaper, Kerry’s Eye, I write advertorial ranging from company profiles to 20-page supplements that celebrate the food and drink offering in Kerry. I produce marketing emails and website copy for Slattery’s Travel, an Irish travel agency. I have also created branded content for NewsCred, liaising with them on campaigns for major brands such as Coca-Cola. More recently, I’ve started collaborating with organisations and businesses to generate publicity that showcases who they are and what they do. This has included taking on a short term contract as Media and Communications Officer with Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland. Over the course of my contract, I succeeded in bringing the wonderful work they do in sustaining and celebrating Ireland’s rich cultural traditions to the attention of a much wider audience.Whether I’m commissioned to write an article about diet culture, advertorial extolling the virtues of a company’s new product, or the ghost-written diaries of a UN military doctor; I can be relied upon to produce clear, clean copy in the required tone and to deadline.Work with me: sharon@sharondingle.com

OwnerBéile Le Chéile Café Mar 2012 - Dec 2014Dingle, KerryI had always dreamt of running my own café or restaurant and for two years, I made it happen. We were open six days a week, serving brunch, lunch and sweet treats. We made everything on site and worked hard to create a welcoming and relaxing space for our diners. It worked too. We won a John and Sally McKenna Award and an award from Georgina Campbell. But because of the seasonal nature of business in Dingle and the sheer hard work involved in running a café, it proved to be unsustainable in the long run. I still miss aspects of it but am grateful for the insight it gave me into the food services industry.
