With over 23 years’ experience in the Accounting & Tax world, without a doubt, I found my passion working with small business owners and their families. Ironically, this was not always where I saw myself and was not until I was in my first post-college position as an admin for a Public Practice firm that I was exposed to this industry and haven’t looked back. My career has encompassed working with small, medium, and large accounting firms to branching out in 2011 with my own firm, Sharon Perry & Associates, Chartered Professional Accountants. This has given me the opportunity to grow alongside my clients as I am faced daily with the same business decisions in owning and operating a business while raising a family, just as they do. Knowledge is power and educating is crucial for the success of any business. I have really embraced educating others and have been dedicating more time and effort into sharing my knowledge and experience with clients, both new and existing business owners. I am also hoping to shape the thinking of the younger generations along the way so they can successfully plan for their future. My social media has become a platform where I am sharing tax and accounting tips that might not be top of mind.Entrepreneurship is in my blood. Growing up I was involved in my parents’ business (construction, lumber and building supplies) and had the opportunity to learn multiple areas of the business over the years. This was influential in me eventually starting my own firm and focusing on small business. It’s what I have been exposed to my whole life and know it is the cornerstone of every community. I was also impacted from an early age by the generosity of my parents in giving back to the community. This molded me to take the direction I have in embracing and giving back to the community. Whether it be volunteering, charitable donations, or sponsorships, I believe it is important to grow our community and have made this a philosophy of my business. My home has been Coquitlam within the Tri-Cities area for 20+ years and I believe it is truly one of the greatest places to have a business and raise a family.
