Speaking has always been a fear for me. I remember in 7th grade forgetting my lines at an assembly. I also remember being embarrassed by a relative while reading minutes from a previous meeting as secretary, who said “Speak up Sharon, I can’t hear you!” As I look back, I’ve come sooooo far. My grandfather had properties in the Austin area of Chicago where I grew up. He had built many of the properties in the area. I remember walking to my grandma’s house on Saturday for coffee and homemade coffee cake. Back then no one thought anything about giving a 3 year old coffee to drink with their coffee cake. So this was my special time to visit with my grandma. But back to real estate.His Vision II, LLC was established to invest in real-estate as a second income prior to my retirement. We had several properties in Chicago. My husband, Jim, was managing them for us. But you know, real estate can be a money draining proposition. We bought at the height of the market in 2003-4 and in the wrong neighborhood. Sound familiar to those thinking about or have invested? My daughter Syndie was starting a new career in insurance as I retired. Six weeks after I retired my husband died without a will, trust, or power of attorney for finances or health nor life insurance. Without my teacher pension, I would have been out on the street.
