I am currently working on a 4-person teaching team in a self-contained elementary classroom with several students with autism and significant behaviors. I support their learning, collect data relevant to IEP goals, facilitate student independence and appropriate social interaction, and accompany students to the general education classroom. I build rapport with students by showing my commitment to understanding their needs. I use emotional intelligence and creativity to engage learners while consistently applying de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement. It's very rewarding to see our students grow!

R-3. August-October 2015.Taught 26 art classes, including Adaptive Art, weekly to 440 students in grades 1-3. Independently assumed all teaching responsibilities for first quarter, including planning curriculum. Product lines: kids, birthday and seasonal; adults, all major holidays, Sympathy, Encouragement, and Christian.◆ Proposed and created 50-75 card designs yearly; managed multiple (6+) projects of varying complexity, in a multi-step work flow using file sharing, image databases, and Adobe software.◆ On each assignment, met strategy by applying insights regarding cultural trends, life stages, holiday traditions, and communication needs across personal relationships. ◆ As the floating art teacher, planned and taught theme based art/craft activities at 5 outdoor Fun Center sites with drop-in care and varying daily attendance of 5-50 children ages 6-15. Ordered and transported art supplies, traveled to 2-3 picnic shelters and school gymnasiums daily.◆ Chaperoned field trips, supported/filled in for Fun Center staff, which included directing games and sports.◆ Planned and taught a 10 week community education art class to children in grades k-3.
