Returning to my foundation in corporate and legal, I joined Lewis Brisbois, a firm I worked with while employed at insurer American International Group (AIG). Work with the Medical Malpractice/Elder Abuse team, as well as the Habitability, Tort, Toxic Tort, and Environmental practices.Analyze contracts and records, draft discovery documents, and conduct legal research and background investigations, resulting in reduced damage exposure, favorable client settlements, and pleading dismissals.

After resigning from AIG to care for my ailing mother, I wanted to explore creative interests and was accepted into the inaugural film apprenticeship program with the City of Atlanta and IATSE. Thereafter, I became a Set Dresser; a Site Rep at a medical facility that was frequently used as a location; a Location Assistant; a Location Scout; and an Assistant Location Manager. Location Scout / Assistant Location Manager (ALM) | Scouted locations and negotiated contracts, fees, and terms with location owners and surrounding property owners. Attended location, director, and tech scouts. Supervised location assistants and managed locations through prep, filming, and strike. -Served as Scout and ALM for Steven Spielberg series “Amazing Stories” and ALM on TV vampire drama series Legacies and the feature film “Last Looks”, starring Mel Gibson and Charlie Hunnam.Location Assistant | Worked on “Superintelligence” starring Melissa McCarthy. My responsibilities expanded to manage a location, including negotiating fees and contracts.Site Rep | Helped convert vacant offices of a hospital-turned-research-center into a hospital set for TV, commercials, and films. Hosted tech scout tours for TV and film productions. Represented facility owners and managed site during prep, construction, filming, and strike.Set Dresser | Dressed sets for “Vampire Diaries” and Oprah’s production “Greenleaf”.Film Technician Intern | My first assignment was Craft Services crew on the TV series “Sleepy Hollow” and then I worked as Assistant and Key on films, TV productions, and workshops, including “The War with Grandpa” with Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Christopher Walken, and Jane Seymour.

Managed complex medical malpractice, birth trauma, elder abuse, and nursing home cases for hospitals and healthcare professionals covered under AIG’s professional liability policies. -Aggressively investigated high exposure cases of $2M or more against clients to resolve them before extensive work and expenses were incurred. Evaluated complex coverage issues and policies. -Directed all aspects of defense litigation including motion practice, defense strategy, and the retention of experts, defense, and specialty counsel (e.g., Appellate and Coverage). Analyzed pleadings and accompanying documentation. -Saved the Insureds’ policy limits, any excess exposure, and reduced indemnity reserves and defense savings by more than $200M. Successfully litigated complex coverage issues through Declaratory Judgment actions. -Attended all important Hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, trials, and appeals. Effectively used structure packages with the help of structured settlement consultants, for the benefit of the Plaintiffs. Closely monitored all defense expenses. -Arranged and attended periodic all-day settlement meetings with Plaintiffs’ counsel on large exposure nursing home and elder abuse cases, allowing for full resolution of multiple cases with significant savings. -Accompanied defense counsel to client conferences to present cases that we successfully defended and answered questions about the mechanics of the litigation process and the successful resolution of cases.

Reviewed and analyzed Lawyers, Miscellaneous, E&O, and Agents and Brokers professional liability claims and complaints, identified legal issues, and directed defense counsel. Assessed liability in both the case against law firms and the underlying case in which they represented their client/Plaintiff. Worked strategically and efficiently to meet deadlines with a caseload of 250 cases. -Saved more than $1M through case settlements and excessive defense bill cuts. Analyzed policy coverage resulting in viable coverage declinations and shared defense and indemnity costs with co- insurers. -Aggressively identified high exposure cases, resulting in swift resolution and savings. Oversaw large budgets and achieved case resolutions under the indemnity reserve using structured settlements.
