As a former business owner, I have accomplished many goals that I have set for myself, including owning three family businesses. With more than 15 years of experience, I managed all office procedures from accounts payable and receivable to payroll and benefits administration. Working closely with state departments, I was able to ensure compliance with all state requirements regarding licensing of the business as well as the employees of the business. I have experience with tax filing, legal compliance and managing inventories.I have had an interesting career path in my life, from trucking across 48 states and Canada to becoming the CFO of a security firm I owned as a minority-owner, going from wearing jeans and boots to wearing a power suit every day. I have met many fascinating people over the years who have taught me the ability to lead and inspire people myself, including some amazing leaders in the martial arts community I call friends.Having graduated from a paralegal program and interned with a trial attorney, both experiences allowed me to perform many aspects of law including tort, litigation, employment and discrimination law, and investigations. In November 2012, he asked me to prepare a Power Point presentation for an upcoming court trial. I had only learned how to use Power Point from my classmates, who had given me a basic outline of how it worked. Promising the attorney I would tackle it, I not only created the presentation for opening arguments but the attorney liked the result so much that he volunteered to pay me to present it in court with him.Since then, I have had the pleasure of learning various areas of law from attorneys that became mentors to me, including personal injury, employment law, worker's compensation, defense litigation, evictions for government agencies, tax appeals for municipalities, foreclosure law and more.I can be a powerful asset to any law firm or corporation with my business acumen, diversified background and determination to succeed.
