Sales Intern
I obtained my health and life insurance license which allowed me to gain hands-on sales experience. I gained product knowledge, learned how to prospect businesses, have a decision-maker conversation, run employee educations, enroll on platforms, and maintain customer relations. I am grateful to Andrew and Marcus for working hands-on to teach me about Aflac and the insurance industry. I was able to obtain my first award from Aflac with their guidance and support. This was a great internship experience and I'm grateful that I get to keep working part-time as I return back to school.
Director Of Professional Development
My goal in this position was to create media resources to reach a larger audience and increase access to these resources to look back on. With the rise of social media and prevalence of short video content we catered towards social media as a means of distribution. I worked hand in hand with our Managing Director, as well as the Marketing division to create professional Tik-Tok and Instagram content. I filtered what I should produce by creating a survey. This survey was sent out to all members with the purpose to gain insight on the biggest weaknesses they face professionally. Collaboratively, we launched three series this past year which included: interview tips, resume tips, and LinkedIn material. I also created resources for Blackboard in which Prospects and New Hires of the Schey could use. While making content was very rewarding, I needed to host something in person to capitalize on my year. I created a professional headshot event where more than 100+ members were able to take a professional photo for free. My hope was to have this transfer to their LinkedIn and Handshake profiles. Many members expressed they needed one because of the pandemic affecting their opportunity. The headshots were taken in front of our Schey backdrop so when members updated their profile picture on social media platforms it would be another method of branding. As the Director of Professional Development, I have had the privilege of sitting down individually with our members to help them interview prep, edit their resumes, or update their LinkedIn. Helping other with their profession development helped me grow professionally and personally. I also had the honor of working closely with Greg Scott and learned an immense amount of professional knowledge. This role challenged me and pushed me far outside my comfort zone. I am grateful to have served in this role and for the opportunities it gave me.
New Hire
Through the Schey Sales Center I am able to attend networking events with our 50+ corporate partners. I competed to get into this selective program and was able to succeed by professionalism and communication skills. By attending weekly meetings I’ve learned about professionalism, diversity and inclusion, and much more.
Learning Community Leader
Member
As a member of Sigma Kappa sorority I help raise awareness and funds for our 5 charitable foundations. I am an active member on two committees. I work on ritual committee to uphold our chapter’s standards and values. I am also on bid day committee where I assisted in the planning and coordinating of an event for over 100 women.
Childcare Worker
Working as a teacher at an early learning center I implemented lesson plans in order to create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children of many ages. I did this through creating stimulating activities, communicating with parents, and managing the classroom.
Housekeeper
At Double Eagle Golf Course I worked in housekeeping, while there I was promoted to train new employees. This allowed me to implement my leadership skills, time management strategies, and organization.
Caretaker
I worked as a Summer Nanny for the same family for three years, watching three young kids. Working with kids helped me grow in my organization, patience, and communication. I often had to problem solve and adapt my communication methods to fit the given situations. I worked hard to coordinate activities for the children that were not only fun but mentally or physically stimulating.
Sales Associate
Working at Hobby Lobby allowed me to grow in my costumer service and communication skills. I mainly worked on register where I handled a large till and worked directly with customers.
Student Intern
Working as and intern for Forman Realtors I was able to gain vast knowledge on the real estate industry, gain professionalism skills, and shadow the behind the scenes process of real estate.
Sales Associate
At Old Navy I worked in many roles throughout the store I worked on the floor, in the back, and on register. I was promoted to lead of the children’s department where I was responsible for the displays, the organization and cleanliness, and customer service in that department.
