Having qualified as a Naval Architect at the height of the last recession, John put his technical skills to work as a journalist for two leading shipping magazines 'Shipping World & Shipbuilder'​ and 'Drydock'​.Three years later he was headhunted and asked to join Lloyd's of London Press as a technical editor for Lloyd's Ship Manager, Lloyd's Cruise International and Lloyd's List based in the City of London.After a few years on the journalists'​ side of the fence John jumped-ship and joined a Public Relations firm, transferring his writing skills and technical background to industrial PR for companies like ABB.In 2000 he moved from heavy industry to luxury car brands and motorsport with a move to the MPA Fingal Group in Fulham.The company’s work spanned web design, corporate branding, print design, copy syndication, public relations, special promotions and event management. Clients included: Aston Martin, Porsche, Jaguar, Honda, William Grant & Sons and Smiths Gore.During his time at MPA John worked very closely with Honda (UK) and came full-circle back to his naval architecture roots with the Honda Formula 4-Stroke powerboat race series.2004 was a very busy year. He got married, moved out of London to the West Sussex countryside, set up his own PR agency and set about building the Sharp Communication empire.Since then, John has been delivering cost-effective marketing campaigns for companies in the marine and boating sectors, ensuring that they maintain a good presence in the specialist media with a good balance of above and below the line strategies.Please check the Sharp Communication website for examples of recent work.
