Engineering Manager for one of three product communities covering customer retention, fraud detection, identity management and personalised content driven by machine learning. Heading-up the Engineering function in the Savings division I was responsible for the delivery of Smart’s US product offering and CMS platform with 12 engineering teams in London and Poland. Responsible for all aspects of software delivery I work closely with Product to support strategic planning of product roadmaps, while balancing needs of the platform by pragmatically addressing tech-debt and ensuring best-practice is followed. Managed a team of five Engineering Managers responsible for software delivery, team performance and people management. Emerging from Covid and operating as fully-remote we balanced efficient software delivery with empathetic leadership focusing on team-health and well-being.

Responsible for the core software engineering team at Acuris which consisted of 60+ engineers across multiple locations using a blend of permanent staff, contractors and suppliers.  We built and maintained Acuris’ range of financial intelligence products including Debtwire, Mergermarket, Dealreporter and PaRR-Global.  Scaled the team and evolved the structure to create divisions aligned to the business; strengthening ownership and autonomy within the teams and providing opportunities for career progression through mentoring and the development of an engineering career framework.My focus was transformation of the Acuris technology platform and software delivery process through legacy elimination and redevelopment of core products, adoption of public cloud infrastructure and automation. Target architecture was React front-ends and microservices in NodeJS and GoLang on AWS.  Teams follow Agile practices and we place a strong emphasis on automation, engineering best practice and quality.

As Head of Software Development I was responsible for the design, development and release of our core content delivery products. The role covers support of existing products through to new technology initiatives.My role included: -• Leading a team of 25+ engineers delivering full SDLC including software architecture, agile process, QA, Devops and front-end/full stack development.• Working with my team to help them measure how well they are meeting business needs and expectation through continuous delivery.• Facilitating the communication of the broader business strategy to the team and ensuring there is opportunity for feedback.• Line-management of my team including mentoring and personal continuous improvement.
