The starting point for me was right after I graduated high school in 2018. I applied for a General Education degree because I did not know what I wanted to do. When I was in high school I wanted to do music education however, I realized that even though I loved music I was good at figuring out keys and loving looking at music history. I felt like I was not called to be a music teacher, and until I found out what my calling was I decided to study General Studies. When I took a psychology class close to the end of my associate degree I knew that I wanted to help people. I knew that I needed a school that I could afford but after looking around I found College of the Ozarks in August of 2021. I then started at the Keeter Center as a Server Assistant which helped hone my teamwork skills and then about a year and five months later became a student manager in the restaurant in 2023.I had a broad view of what I wanted to go into at first I thought about working with autistic people and becoming an Autistic Specialist due to having autism myself but then I realized that may not be a good option. The next option was to be a counselor for the mental health profession. However, I realized that was not for me because even though I was a good listener I did not have the mental capacity to understand the deeper meanings of people. I also felt led to those of disability but not counseling. I then thought industrial organization psychology would be the right fit for me. Yet, the more research I did the more I felt not lead to that type of job. I then did more research and actually felt led to Health psychology more specifically rehabilitation psychology. So as a rehabilitation psychologist from what I have researched helps people with chronic illnesses live happy lives. So as student manager at the Keeter Center, I enjoy making sure everyone is happy and making sure they are okay. I also love that people understand how to do their job correctly whether it's through burnout or stress I enjoy helping them out. I did not feel like a good leader at first but I have learned that I love being there for people.
