When I landed my first "real" job at a sandwich shop during high school, my father gave me some advice. "Take initiative. If you've finished your assigned task, pick up a broom and start sweeping. I never would have been sent to promote Kirishima National Geopark at a global conference if I had not voluntarily become an expert on local geology and plant life in preparation for interpreting an international tour of the park earlier that year. I most certainly would not have found my passion for marketing if I had not pushed myself to go back to school for an MBA. In my current marketing position, I work with marketing tools like Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics, and Search Console.
