In-home servicing to the elderly and disabled, understanding the limitations and needs of each client. The Fresh Air Fund is an independent, not-for-profit agency providing free summer vacations to NYC youngsters. Each summer, through The Fresh Air Fund's volunteer host program called Friendly Town, thousands of inner-city children visit host families in the suburbs and small town communities across 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. My duties include but not limited to:*Advertise and promote The Fresh Air Fund through radio interviews and newspaper articles, and create flyers to distribute at area schools and Churches. *Recruit families to host a child, or two, for two weeks during the summer. *Interview and process background checks on potential host families, and inspect their homes for cleanliness and hazardous situations. *Correspond with new host families about upcoming events and keeping them updated with information about the child they will be hosting. *Travel to NYC, by train, to meet the bus and chaperone the bus load of children to Connecticut, and upon arrival, introduce the children to their host families. *Organize and host a picnic for all host families and their Fresh Air children. *Keep in contact with host families during their visit to ensure the safety and well being of all children. *In case if an emergency, act quickly and effectively to rectify the situation, removing the child from the host’s home, if necessary. *Organize and chaperone the bus load of children back to NYC and unite them with their parent or guardian. *Manage organized records of all host families and Fresh Air children. *Once the summer season has ended, make preparations for the following year. Attend yearly conferences in NYC
