A demanding and fast-paced front facing role at the Customer Service Desk, undertaking a wide range of tasks including but not limited to: processing returns/ damaged goods; investigating price errors; dealing with complaints, general enquiries and sign ins; maintaining paper and electronic records and processing items for resale/waste/return to depot; handling and sale of high value goods such as tobacco products/lottery.

Working as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment, delivering a high standard of customer service in accordance with the Tesco values. Tasks included adhering to all health and safety procedures and administrative duties in relation to the sale of petroleum spirit and the maintenance of a fuel forecourt. With high customer footfall, the day-to-day running of the retail kiosk is maintained by replenishing and rotating stock, and ensuring that the store is well presented.

Highly physical role on board a class VI passenger vessel, working alongside the skipper to provide daily boat tours from the Isle of Mull to Fingal’s Cave on Staffa and the Treshnish Isles. Responsibilities included mooring duties and general housekeeping, as well as processing tickets sales and assisting passengers, ensuring their safety at sea while providing information regarding wildlife, geography and local history.

Assisted with the overall running of the visitor centre and shop, personally leading a group of guides conducting tours around the distillery and whisky tasting sessions in the visitor centre. Planned rota and daily tour schedule to maintain smooth operation of tours and provide exceptional customer service Involved in recruitment of tour guides during peak seasons, tasked with training new guides to maintain accuracy of tour content and ensured delivery of an engaging and safe visitor experience. Liaised with spirit production personnel to adhere to all health + safety, environmental and building security procedures. Developed the ‘Whisky and Chocolate’ experience, generating additional income of £2600+ over 2017 summer season. Monitored spirit/merchandise stock levels and completed purchase orders.

Assisted the manager in converting the former Tobermory Marine Exhibition into the new Mull Aquarium, Europe's first catch-and-release aquarium. This involved working as part of a small team helping with the design and installation of the aquarium (tank placement, plumbing, access ramps, exhibit display and aesthetics etc.); setting up and running the new social media pages/website (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TripAdvisor, Instagram); recruiting, training and supervising volunteers; producing handbooks for staff/volunteers and organising volunteers schedules.Promoted and led interactive and informative touch pools demonstrations, 'Marine Lab' workshops and harbour tours, presenting to visitors of all ages. Operated the front desk: greeted customers, distributed tickets, provided information on events and supervised the shop area.Organised the annual 'National Marine Week' celebration events, including workshops, crafts, demonstrations and talks. Produced a number of articles for local and national publications as well as newsletters for season pass holders.

Worked alongside the Exhibition Manager to develop a programme of events, talks and activities aimed at taking marine science out to the general public and bringing it to life. Used public engagement and education skills when undertaking events including but not limited to: marine touch pool sessions, harbour tours and craft sessions. I also produced and led a number of educational workshops - mainly focussed on marine litter, pollution and microbeads - which were presented to a diverse audience, from the general public to members of our 'Marine Explorers'​ kids club.One of my main tasks during the ScotGrad programme was to organise the Marine Week celebration. Through 10 days of organised events, from 'Meet the Expert'​ talks and workshops to rockpooling sessions, the Exhibition made over £2000, a significant amount for a non-profit community organisation which relies on donations upon entry.Also heavily involved in developments taking place at the Exhibition which will see it converted into an aquarium through the introduction of a number of new tanks, making it the Europe's first catch and release aquarium.

Summer job working as part of a small team involved in the running of the distillery shop. Worked at the cash desk selling various items, ranging from alcohol to gifts and souvenirs. I was required to have an extensive knowledge of the distilling process and the various types of whisky being sold on the premises. Other tasks include handling stock and arranging groups for tours of the distillery, both in person and over the phone. Whilst my colleagues were guiding tours, I was often left responsible for the running of the shop.

Deckhand on MV Islander based in Tobermory which runs boat tours to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles. Responsibilities included general deckhand tasks (e.g. basic roping) and interacting with tourists. Tourists were usually given freedom to explore the islands during the trips but I often chose to accompany them, guiding them around the islands whilst discussing and pointing out the wildlife. Knowledge of the area, sealife, and birdlife was essential. A level of focus was needed to spot wildlife at sea and on land and then enabling the tourists to view birds or animals responsibly, preventing any unnecessary disturbance.Through working for the company, I was able to spend some time undertaking research for my honours project focussed on the colony of Atlantic Puffin found on the island of Lunga in the Treshnish Isles. This involved collecting data concerning feeding behaviour on a number of occasions, even spending 3 days (2 nights) on the island alone.

Spent 12 weeks working at Glasgow Science Centre as part of a work related learning module undertaken at university. My main responsibility was to develop the content for an interactive exhibit in the BodyWorks exhibition. The content focussed on inappropriate immune responses, accessed by visitors through a touch screen in one of a number of research 'capsule' areas in the exhibition. Throughout the placement, I was able to develop my knowledge of various aspects of human biology as well as current research and developments in biomedical science. The content had to be accessible to a wide audience of various ages and levels of knowledge. I undertook many other tasks over the course of the work placement, working both alone and with colleagues (see attached report).

Originally volunteered at the community radio station as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, but quickly worked my way up from answering telephones and taking music requests to producing and presenting my own weekly show. 'Friday Live' was aimed at a wide audience in terms of entertainment but mainly focussed on subjects relating to teenagers and young adults. Worked as a team with two friends to develop the programme each week, researching topics for discussion and arranging audio files to be played on air (music, adverts, jingles).It was also my task to work the mixing desk during these live broadcasts, involving a great deal of multi-tasking (mixing console, computer, music files/CDs, interacting with listeners through social networks), as well as talking live on air, and completing and organising paperwork.Spent a great deal of time editing files, such as adverts or pre-recorded shows, which were to be broadcast later. This was important when I became heavily involved in producing material concerning the local music festival (Hebridean Celtic Festival) which included interviewing and recording members of the general public and musicians/bands that were due to perform. Questions were to be developed prior to interviews in most cases, involving a great deal of research where musicians were involved, but I also had to show initiative, listening carefully during interviews and coming up with new questions on the spot.I also occasionally featured on other radio programmes which involved integrating myself into conversations and situations that were different to those concerning my own show.
