Shaun was a career soldier with fifteen years in the Australian Army both as a Corporal Combat Engineer and as a Lieutenant Infantry Platoon Commander. Deployments included Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Operations.Other roles after leaving Army included Operations Manager, Safety Officer, Training Manager, Shotfirer in Open Cut Coal Mines (which solely involved large explosives works), Business Chamber Vice President.After a change of pace on life in 2016, Shaun completed film stunt training on the Australian Gold Coast and Hollywood. He then subsequently was employed as an Instructor and Safety Officer at the Australian Stunt Academy.In Feb 2017 Shaun created Extra Specialists, which is an entertainment talent agency and consultancy employing military and first responder veterans. He realised there was a niche market for their skills to save production costs.Extra Specialists has well over 1000 members that have been part of over 50 large projects nationwide, from TV series including Home and Away, to Feature Films including 2 Marvel projects. In 2019, Shaun established a training centre conducted out of Screen QLD Studios to train actors in military tactics and military Veterans in acting. Shaun was then successful in employing veterans back in to the Defence Force as role players for large military exercises, which was a goal of his since 2009.Due to Shaun's 20 year experience in Project Management he then moved into a Producer role in the film industry, producing his first film in Dec 2021 and Executive Producer of a second Feature Film in 2022. Shaun is now working on a third Feature Film and a couple of series that he hopes to launch through social media.Shaun has notably worked on numerous feature films with Russell Crowe as his Picture Double and Stand-In. Within the Defence industry, Shaun has developed his company Vergex Pty Ltd, as Australia’s first Indigenous and Veteran owned and operated Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearance and Environmental decontamination resource. Vergex aims to continue providing standard EOD/UXO related services whilst additionally introducing new green sustainable methods and technologies to improve and update the current standards in Australia and Overseas.Due to this, Shaun has now been selected as a Committee Member for the UXO Specialists Interests Group within the Australian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA).Shaun is a Technical Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers and a member of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Australian Institute of Project Management.
