Profit and loss responsible for Beijing Johnson Controls Automotive Company (BJCAC). BJCAC is a joint venture between Johnson Controls and BAIC (Beijing Automotive Interior Company). BJCAC has four manufacturing locations in Beijing with more than one billion U$ in annual sales, with over 1,700 employees. Product: Seating, Instrument panel, Door panel, Cock Pit, and Headliner

Responsible for Faway-Johnson Control’s Technical Center located in Changchun, China. Faway-Johnson Controls (FJC) is a 50/50 joint venture between FAW and Johnson Controls with annual sale over 1.6 billion US dollars. Engineering currently has 450 + engineers. FJC’s technical center consists of a young engineering team with fifty percent of the engineers having no prior program experience. Robust engineering is achieved through rigorous training programs, use of core technology and through a disciplined adherence of LEAN engineering principles.Technical center departments: Industrial Design and Studio, FEA, Product Engineering, Engineering Operations, Product Planning, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Prototype and TestingProduct: Seating, Instrument panel, Floor console, Door panel, Headliner Accomplishments:- Grew FJC from 2 development projects/year to 57+ development projects/year- Established a core engineering process base on LEAN engineering principles- Created a “product safety” culture based on global best practices and discipline

Responsible for the engineering execution for the global C346. Seats were developed by a core engineering team located in Plymouth, Michigan for global production, while the greater STD was located within regional sites. Design incorporated regional requirements and regional manufacturing processes from eight different countries. Product: Seating Accomplishments:Successfully managed global requirements into one design, according to local processes, requirements and material.

Responsible for the CPP (Core Product portfolio) engineering and design for front seats core modular seating. CPP process leveraged lesson learned across JCI’s seating platforms to incorporate best business practice into one set of design templates and product knowledge documents. Design controlled through key interfaces based on standard manufacturing process and equipment.Product: SeatingAccomplishments:- CPP has become JCI’s core seating structure utilized by over 10 OEMs.- CPP reduced program spending for capital, development, and tooling.- Established a reliable and proven core structure for global production

Responsible for the Ford Business Unit’s engineering department. The Ford Business unit’s engineering community in England and Germany accounted for 153 Engineers. Financially responsible for the Engineer development budget, which includes tooling, prototype parts, testing and manpower resources. The business unit launched six programs during my two-year ex-pat assignment. Tasks also included rebuilding and transferring the Engineering knowledge from England to Germany.
