eBay Sellers regularly add new shipping solutions to ship items to customers, so the Tracking Team must frequently add to the list of shipping carriers supported at eBay.• Created a solution to revamp how the team onboards new shipping carriers and maintains existing carrier records.• Identified pain points of the existing method that used SQL scripts to directly update databases.• Designed user-friendly UI according to team’s requirements and implemented it using HTML & JavaScript frontend and Java back-end where users can: • Onboard new shipping carriers with required inputs. • Update carrier information by retrieving existing data and making necessary changes. • Assure correctness using rule-based input validations. • Solution enabled team members to onboard and update carriers within seconds. Without it, users spent up to 10 minutes on the existing database tool in staging, and then replicated those steps in production.

Designed and prototyped a solution to improve the speed of searching tracking numbers by more than 100x. • Researched project requirements, different technology options and designed a solution using the ELK stack - Elasticsearch, Logstash, Filebeat, and Kibana. • Implemented an end-to-end prototype for continuously collecting log files from Shipping-Tracking server and indexing them into Elasticsearch; searchable via the Kibana UI. • This solution made it easier and quicker for on-call employees to resolve issues with missing tracking files by enabling search results in milliseconds. Without the solution, the on-call spent up to 15 minutes reconciling missing tracking numbers. • To facilitate deployment of the system, I implemented a containerized staging solution utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.
