Enwave is a leading core-competency district energy operator in North America. Now a Canadian company and owned by OTTP and IFM Investors, they continue to solve the cooling, heating and power needs of municipalities, communities and campuses using proven and sustainable technologies. They provide services in Toronto, London, Charlottetown, Windsor and Markham.Reporting into the CEO and member of the Leadership team, my responsibilities included strategic financial planning, reporting, business analysis, treasury, tax, controls, acquisition due diligence, and risk (2 direct reports, 14 indirect).

Enwave North America, owned by Brookfield, provides large-scale heating and cooling services across 11 North American cities. I reported into the CFO and was responsible for the North American Finance function. I led the Finance department (5 direct and 48 indirect reports; 4 offices) in all aspects of the strategic financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury and capital management, acquisition due diligence, shared services (AR, AP, Payroll, Accounting), budgeting and forecasting, tax, governance and controls, and information technology.I provided value to stakeholders through improved financial and management reporting as well as enhanced corporate governance which together resulted in more effective risk management, more accretive capital projects and greater revenue generation. I led the implementation of Microsoft D365 across the group and the issuance of debt within the North American private placement market.

Reporting to CFO, owned by Rogers Communications Inc., BCE Inc., and Kilmer Sports, responsible for the financial reporting, Shared services, Risk management, Tax, and the Ticket Admin operations. Working in multiple businesses - Ticketing, Sponsorships, Marketing, Arena management, Real estate, Restaurants, Food and Beverage, Retail and Merchandise, Broadcast, Media, and Sport team. 4 direct and 36 indirect reports.I prepared Canadian/US tax compliance and planning and assessed enterprise risk. I liaised with department leaders to review operating results and future expectations. I transformed the Finance department from a group of generalists to specialists. I prepared departmental budgets, analyzed budgets with departmental leaders and reviewed the overall budget package. I presented financial information quarterly to Audit committee.

Assurance Services:- Budget, plan, and manage audit engagements of a variety of private and public companies with revenues from $12 billion to $1 million- Daily audit responsibilities include the management of all aspects of the engagement, including supervision, motivation, and evaluation of staff, file review, technical accounting issue research and resolution, review of internal valuation and tax specialists’ work, critically asses financial statements (FS) with accompanying notes, preparation and discussions of issues to the Audit Committee, and billing and time analysis- Providing assurance services of annual and interim FS in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Auditing Standards (IAS) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)- Review of publicly available documents such as Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), press releases, executive certifications, annual information forms, management information circulars, TSX application listings, and glossy annual reports.- Worked with and developed strong client relationships with key client personnel throughout the organization (e.g. C-level, audit committee, board members, legal, internal audit, treasury, and IT)- Preparation and management of multi-national audits Accounting Advisory and other Services:- Research and prepare technical accounting positions on complex issues in IFRS and US GAAP - Advise on the effect and implementation of transitioning to IFRS.

Performed audit and review engagements on small to medium sized private businesses in various industries (mainly real estate and investment companies), including preparing corporate tax files.
