Responsible for assisting honors and masters students in conducting fieldwork for their various projects while working under Dr. Diana Hamilton of the biology department. Much of the work involved being part of a large collaborative project on sandpiper movement and habitat use in the upper Bay of Fundy. This included setting up and taking down receiver towers with antennas, collecting invertebrates samples from the mudflats, capturing birds for tagging and blood samples, and radio tracking their movements from both the ground and air. The other main project involved looking into the expansion of invasive green crabs into the upper Bay of Fundy and examining competition with native rock crabs.

Bedford Institute Of Oceanography, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Conducted at sea and shore based research on commercially fished species throughout Nova Scotia. Project leader for the society's Lobster Size at Maturity and Near-shore Temperature Monitoring projects, as well as an active participant in other ongoing initiatives. Responsible for collecting and analyzing data, creating posters and writing articles. Acted as the society's Occupational Health and Safety Officer from 2010 to 2013. Took a lead role in all Education and Outreach work ranging from presentations to high school students and teachers, website and display development, and attendance at conferences and expos.

Kempt, Nova Scotia

Responsible for the development and implementation of the 'Empower!' youth outreach program and 3 day retreat at Kejimkujik National Park. The retreat attracted a number of students and teachers from Southwest Nova Scotia as well as Metro Halifax to take part in a variety of workshops, listen to speakers, and sample local foods. In my spare time at the institute I teamed up with other researchers to study populations of Common Loons, Eastern Ribbon Snakes, and Blandings Turtles.
