About Shaun Iles
Since 2008 I have taught in f2f & online environments in various forms (blended, flex and fully online) at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. Through my experiences, I have come to see the potential that online education has for students and educators alike and have become involved in presenting at local and international conferences to this effect. I am also very involved in gamifying online learning environments and creating game enhanced courses that support student learning. I am currently working on making applied research techniques more applicable to everyday life for college students by creating a new course at Mohawk College and writing a new text that not only introduces students to the importance of applied research, but also highlights where this knowledge plays a role in their everyday life. Through my teaching career, I noticed that there was a gap between the hardware that educators have at their disposal in the classroom and the software that they are able to use to support their lessons. In 2015 I Co-founded Flyte Studios Inc. Flyte Studios Inc. is a software company that primarily focuses on education technology. Our flagship software, UnderstudyEdu, provides educators access to digital tools that allow them to create digitally interactive activities that are directly associated with curriculum skills. Behind the scenes, our analytical software provides important information to educators pertaining to student performance with the software. This insight into students competencies with curriculum allows the educator to provide more individualized, student-centric approaches to teaching and learning.
