At the age of three, courtesy of my Mum, an artist and architect herself, I discovered my passion for visual arts and design, with creative activities engaging me instantly. Therefore, the majority of my aspirations have always revolved around visual arts.I still vividly recall the moment at which I realised my dream. Having just watched the movie ‘Cars’, I was fascinated by Lightning McQueen. My Mum handed me a piece of paper to draw on, and I immediately drew Lightning McQueen. The overarching topic of cars would go on to become what I drew most as my skill level developed over time, leading to my fascination with Formula One, as well as other racing series, resulting in me starting to draw Formula One cars as well.My love for Art only continued to grow as the world shut down amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I was able to spend unprecedented amounts of time on Art, enabling me to make big leaps not only in terms of artistic skill but also in finding new opportunities and gaining recognition from important people. My Grade 7 and 8 Art teachers both were and still are highly influential in my progress. They introduced me to Digital Art and recommended posting my work on Instagram to get in touch and learn from other Artists and Designers and gain a larger following. Digital mediums such as Photoshop and Procreate not only opened my eyes to different ways of drawing but also Design, namely Graphic Design. I went on to make this transition, discovering that I resonate more with Design than just ‘Art’ as I feel it allows me to use more of my own creativity.Alongside this, I have had the privilege of designing UWCSEA’s 50th Anniversary Greeting Card, yearbook cover, sportswear, multiple logos and creating Multicultural Dragon wall art for the Sports Complex on campus. My achievements so far are encouraging but I have got a long way to go. As the saying goes, ‘No matter how high you fly, keep your feet on the ground.’ and my future aspirations are clear. My goals certainly include reaching the summit of Car Design, including designing a Formula One car livery. However, my overarching goal is to create something unique and special and to enforce change in society with my work. I am a big believer in Visual Art's potential to enforce change as it is eye-catching and open to various interpretations. Furthermore, I recognise the current environmental crisis and fundamental issues that exist within humanity. Therefore, I am all for combining these two passions together and developing a voice that can positively impact our future.
