I am a graduate of Gardner-Webb University. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in American Sign Language (major), and I minored in Sign Language Interpreting. Under that program, I had the opportunity to work as an American Sign Language student interpreter, as well as an American Sign Language Lab teacher. I was also involved in the American Sign Language club, as well as Joyful Hands (sign language choir). In addition to that, I served as the vice president and assistant director of the Gospel Choir. Opportunities under the American Sign Language Department:October 2014, I had the opportunity to work as a Tactile (deaf-blind) interpreter on a trip to New York, sponsored by Gardner-Webb University. I also served as a Support Service Provider (SSP). During the trip, the students went to the 9/11 Museum, Ellis Island, Time Square, Madison Square Garden. Our client participated in a race/walk-a-thon. On the last day, our client helped served in a soup kitchen. Every time our client encountered different places and people, we were there to explain what was going on, and to facilitate information between them and hearing people.December 23-24, 2015: I had the opportunity to interpret at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) for The Summit's Christmas service. Interpreting the music, the sermon, and other special moments during the service, in front of a full audience.
