My name is Shawanda Jackson, I am the founder of Queens In Motion. I have dedicated over eight years, both academically and professionally, to servicing and mentoring youth. I hold a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Community Uplift Strategies. My volunteer and work history ranges from counseling, teaching, tutoring, coaching and mentoring youth. I am a charter member of S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere at Hyde Park Career Academy), former Youth Council Member for All Students Are Powerful (A.S.A.P.), a member of SIMSA (safe in my sisters arms), a member of S.W.A.N.S (Sisters Working Against Negative Stereotypes) and the former North Carolina State Facilitator for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I have worked for Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro as a Parent Engagement Specialist and as an AmeriCorp member. I have also worked at an all girl therapeutic boarding school as a Student Life Counselor. I currently work for WES Health Systems were I facilitate Teen Outreach Programs at various public schools in the city of Chicago. It is my desire that the work accomplished through Queens In Motion will nurture and encourage all our students to assume responsibility for their mind, body and soul.
